What does the expansion bring? And is it any good?
For a good sale price, it's worth IMO. But only for sale price. Buy version with WONY.
Really? what are the negative points of TD2?
- generic, flat, unlikable characters with absolutely generic dialogue lines
- the way the story is told to you, aka the narrative, sucks
- story sucks (at least until endgame), I haven't felt the curiosity and anticipation on what will happen next that I've felt in TD1, think most people who enjoy TD2 don't give a ♥♥♥♥ about the story. In TD1, I've enjoyed even side quests...
- no sense of accomplishment, no "♥♥♥♥, we made it", no "omg, it's over? :(" moments
- Washington streets feel generic and hmm... too similiar to each other? Too dull? NY had more distinct features and architecture, NY was great to explore... Washington? Meh.
When I've finished the pre-endgame main-story campaign I was like... "that's it?".
So yeah. And many people confirmed they've felt the same. So... get into it for gameplay. Also, Warlords of New York expansion had good reception, gives you new districts to explore.
Same for me... Exactly the same. One of the reasons I uninstalled Division 2 on my system.
Stronly recommended. Buy it with WONY.
The entire UI is awfully complicated. I don't like the new hp/armor system and to me there are literally zero skills/abilities that are fun to use. To me, they play a major role in whether the game is fun or not. In the first game, there were many really fun to use skills and most of them were really powerful in their own way. Division 2 has far too many of them, yet none of them feel any fun to me. Also I loved playing a support role in co-op missions. The healing in division 2 just feels very unsatisfying.
The second game has made some improvements. But also took steps back in some regards. I mostly don't enjoy it because the abilities aren't fun which in turn makes the game feel like a simple shooter to me. It doesn't feel like your group consists of players taking different roles. Just seems like everyone is doing the exact same.
Division 2 has a MUCH better endgame and much better endgame progression systems (which isn't hard since Div 1 only has the loot grind). I don't know how much you know about it and I don't want to spoil anything but when you finish the campaign everything changes and a good amount of dynamic content gets enabled.
Dark Zone is better in Div 1.
Snowy New York was awesome and I liked it better than DC but I still like DC.
The story is garbage in both games IMO.
Warlords of New York (the Div 2 expansion) is the best storytelling they've done (though still not amazing or anything) and the best boss encounters they've done. It also concludes the cliff hanger at the end of Division 1's campaign.
If you enjoyed the first then it's likely you'll enjoy the second. Get it with the expansion and don't level boost your character on your first play through.
