Going Rogue is Broken?
I've been playing a lot in the DZ and I can't tell if something is wrong with the DZ Rogue mechanics or I just don't understand how it works.

First, there have been plenty times when someone randomly starts shooting at me and he doesn't go rogue. It's not accidental shots the guy is aiming and unloading his clip on me.

Or, when I see players who have gone rogue, when I aim my crosshairs on him, it says "Non-hostile agent" even though he's killing everyone on the server. But when I shoot at him it says I've gone rogue, even though he's the one that's rogue. So I'm confused.

Not sure, guess it is a bug?

I know can fire 1 or 2 shots and not go rogue, you get a warning.

I have noticed in group fights I've somehow gone rogue (causing my group to go rogue as well) when attempting to kill the rogue group. Odd....

its not broken People will shoot you once with a pistol to hurt you that turns their health red so show that they hit you but since you took little damage they did not turn rouge. This is what people do to bait people into shooting them and turning them rogue. People are NOT rogue until you see a skull by their name not the red health bar.
Read my original post, that's what I am saying. I only do shoot at people when they have skulls next to their name and it says 1) non-hostile agent and 2) I go rogue when I shoot at them. That seems broken or again, maybe we all don't know how it works because that doesn't seem right.

I've been watching streams after seeing this in my own gameplay, and it's definitely broken. I just saw a streamer, who had 18s left of rogue from accidentally shooting someone once, get gunned down by 3 guys. As soon as he died, the rogue status popped up on all 3 of those guys.

I've been watching streams after seeing this in my own gameplay, and it's definitely broken. I just saw a streamer, who had 18s left of rogue from accidentally shooting someone once, get gunned down by 3 guys. As soon as he died, the rogue status popped up on all 3 of those guys.

yeah so?? those 3 ppl killed someone, why wouldn't you go rogue? from my understanding, this is how it works: When a non-hostile attacks a rogue rank 0 who didn't go rogue on them, they can go rogue.
From what I can tell, you go rogue once a player connects with a certain amount of shots. This is due to accidental non teamed friendly fire happening. If someone steps in front of you as you shoot an AI, then you will not go rogue instantly unless you continue to fire into the unteamed player.

One thing may have happened is that either the player just killed rogue agents and you did not realize it or his timer finished while you were chasing him. There could also be a bug involved since the game obviously has them.

I was specifically watching it because this had been going on for nearly 30 minutes outside a safehouse; it was just a giant cluster of players hunting rogues and then getting turned rogue themselves. So nope, his timer definitely wasn't finished when the other 3 players killed him and got the rogue tag themselves.

From my understanding, killing a *rogue* shouldn't ever give you rogue status yourself - only killing a red player, which isn't the same as rogue. The problem is it's hard to say what's a bug and what's just a badly functioning feature.

Sounds like the game believed his timer was completed and marked the other players as rogue. Another bug for the pile. You are correct. If a non rogue player kills a rogue player, that player will not be marked rogue. The point of the rogue status is risk vs reward. The player can kill another player for their loot. They will get the drop on the other player, get their loot for killing them, but there is a large risk.
