Will refund eligibility withstand if I play the beta?

I want to preorder the game to test out the game in beta, but I was not sure about Steam's refund policy with betas before release. Does the beta count towards your two hour timeclock?

that will depend on whether they have a "the division", and a "the division-beta" choice set,
more than likely the second will happen, as is usually the case with most legit beta's on steam.

You can play as long as you want in the beta and still get a refund if you don't like it.

I've been with Steam since the beginning (12+ years). I have 19 refunds, 4 of them for beta access games.

Pre-Order / Pre-release - different than early access, player buys, can get a refund ANY time prior to actual release date, if a beta exists the player can play beta for an unlimited period of time for as long as beta is available - it does not count towards time played in refund policy. After the official release date (noted on store page), the 14 day 2 hour play time window starts.

I've refunded 4 pre-order games that granted beta access and combined, played them 55+ hours. No problems with refunding because Steam allows refunds for pre-released games even with betas.

If you paid with a credit card or paypal, would they refund you the credit/paypal or just refund you steam wallet balance.

Your choice. It either goes back into the original payment method OR your Steam Wallet. You decide at the time of refund request. I usually just send it to my Steam Wallet as I know I'll end up using it anyway. Takes anywhere betwen 2-7 business days.

I've read a couple people claim they got a refund w/i the hour, but I'm skeptical. I don't know anyone who actually has. Either they were goofin' or perhaps it was during a special promotional time like a sales event where support is ramped up.

Out of 19 refunds I've never seen it faster than 2 days, only had it once take as long as 7 days (a while ago) but most of the time it's 3-4 days for me.

It is. Makes no difference.

The key is where it was purchased. If from Steam, then Steam's refund policy is in play regardless of the developer, publisher, extra launcher, or additional DRM.

If you buy the key from a distributor other than Steam, such as Uplay, GOG, GMG, etc, it is their refund policy (if any) that are at play.
