More Marksman Rifle Ammo Needed
The Marksman Rifle Ammo amount needs to be increased by about 30%.

The numbers below are about what the total damage you could do with a weapon are. So, multiply the damage the weapon type does by the number of bullets you can carry.
Marksman Rifle was about 295,000 total damage.
Assault Rifle was about 410,000 total damage.
Shotgun was about 400,000 total damage.
LMG was about 410,000 total damage.
SMG, didn't look at.

Headshot damage is increased by like 150% with marksman rifles. Is that accounted for?

Plus the increased utility of range and accuracy

I personally don't think the headshot dmg, extra range, and accuracy should count against the total damage you are carrying around. you get those in exchange for the lower dps. The marksman rifles are actually the lower DPS weapons when comparing like items. I was comparing level 8 blue items. And an item I forget to take into account was that I have, increases marksman rifle. So, the total damage for the marksman rifle catagory would be lower than what I typed above.

Another test that I've done for seeing if shot placement matters that much more is seeing how far I can get through the square garden mission on hard without getting more ammo for each gun.
Using just a marksman rifle I can get through the first room after the elevator.
Using just an assault rifile I can get part of the way through the roof fight.
Using just a shotgun, I die in the second encounter with plenty of ammo left.
And F SMGs because I suck at using them. I actually die in the first room with just an SMG.
Using just a pistol, I die in the second encounter with infinite ammo left.

I do not think you necessarily need more sniper ammo as long as you use your arsenal properly.

Early in the open beta, I also felt like I need more ammo for marksman rifles. I only realized bit later it was because I was using semi-automatic rifles with relatively low damage per bullet, which compensated their damage output by increase rate of fire. I quickly fell in love with bolt-action snipers, more specifically m1a rifle, which had very high bullet damage, 10 round magazine, 150%+ headshot damage bonus and enough rate of fire to pummel targets repeatedly if needed. The moment I started to use it I stopped having ammo problem.

My typical encounter started with headshot (with optional pulse + water if there was a large group of NPCs) on grenadiers or rushers, throw grenade to stop their advance, continue picking dangerous targets with sniper rile and once their ranks are trimmed down I move to close range and switch to assault rifle/SMG.
marksman rifles arent intended to do what other guns can, hence why u need to resupply often.
if u could waste ammo on a marksman rifle like u could a different gun, they would be a bit to good

Also note if yu look at the lists of skills people have made pre-open beta (so might change) theres a skill that when you shoot someone in the head the shot has a 50% chance to not consume ammo

...Isn't this why they let you carry two primary weapons? Or do they need to hold both your hands now?

I was considering if it was possible to go only a single primary before I had the chance to play beta.

If you're not headshotting at least 1/3 of your rounds with a MM Rifle you're doing it wrong - the bonus is on all MM weapons for a reason.

They do indeed need more ammo. I can spend with my Vector full auto cleaning several zones in DZ6, but if sometimes i have to take the fight from the distance, the marksman rifle goes out of ammo in just a zone, maybe two, after that is empty. And yes, always headshots doing from 160 to 400k.

I can carry 830 SMG ammo + the magazine, which is 40. I have 20 reloads before running out of ammo. Marksman ammo is around 120 - 130, + the magazine which is 18, 7 reloads. If your main weapon is a marksman rifle, you can't be stopping after looting every two zones. Sometimes there are even 10 enemies per zone, and if you don't get criticals it can take 10 or more bullets to kill one guy. It just needs more ammo to be on par with the other weapons.

Use the perk that gives u chance of regaining ammo for your weapons after kills.
It really helps, especially when running around for extended periods in dark zone.

I don't run out of my DMR ammo, ever. Use it all the time as main weapon.
Aim good, use proper perks. You can do so much more dmg with DMR within ammo pool than with other guns it's not even funny. If you're not aiming for headshots only with DMR you're just doing it wrong.
Use perk that gives 50% chance of not using ammo on headshot(counts EVERY headshot, not just killing blow). And if you can't hit a broad side of a barn and ammo is wasted anyway - perk that gives 30 rounds of primary on pistol kill. This can keep anybody stocked with ammo forever.

Even in real life your snipers carry a back up weapon other than there sidearms depending on the mission. Cause if they end up in CQC a sniper rifle is very useless.

Not to mention use gear that gives you more ammo.

Well in airsoft I played alot as a sniper (semi auto SVD battery powered; but mags were expensive so I only had 2 mags for this gun) but I carried a Glock and MP5K as well.
