Why does the Accuracy talent and accuracy on mods raise your DPS number?
This makes no sense since it would depend on how far you are from the target. Sure if I am far away from a target and shooting with my AK then a more "accurate" gun will give me more DPS but I don't see how they can calculate and pinpoint it down to an exact number. Since the extra amount of DPS you can "guess" a more accurate gun gives you, would be impossible to calculate and it would fluctuate anyway.

Moral of the story as many of us stat guys know from playing RPG's for years, the DPS number truly doesn't mean as much as people think it does.

Because the DPS value in this game takes a theoretical chance to hit the target into it's calculations.

That being said the whole way DPS in this game is caluclated is horrible and inaccurate anyways. So basically don't ever trust anything the game tells you in that specific regard, it's the same thing for a bunch of other mods.

Technically the only mod effects that should raise your DPS # are +Rate of fire, +crit damage, +crit chance, faster reload time (this one is iffy imo), +headshot damage, and MAYBE +magazine size, since you could factor in reload time.

It's just frustrating how many idiots think the DPS # is the most important thing lol.

In theory, you deal more damage with a more accurate weapon because it has less spread, so more of your shots hit their intended target.

I can only assume the spread has to be active when the reticule is minimal, because I haven't really noticed accuracy affecting the growth/reduction of the reticule size myself- the Balanced talent does that.

They use a semi-arbitrary way of calculating it though (accuracy=headshot chance), but it's impossible to determine the exact increase anyway since its dependent on range and size/cover of target, (as well as rate of fire).

It's good enough for me. If it didn't factor in everything there would be people complaining that it didn't.

DPS in game is 'real dps' rather then 'raw dps' in which it is calculating the potential dps at a target at optimal range taking into consideration magazine size, reloads, rate of fire, and potential damage loss from misses. That is why things like Accuracy influences the 'DPS' value on weapons.

The reason why is because the game uses the Accuracy as headshot chance
