Crafting is garbage, recalibration is pointless nonsense
So tried crafting in The Division and I have to say I am throughly displeased with the total random nonsense with it. Is this the best they could come up with? Rolling some dice and hope you get something you like? Gold gear is even worse in the fact you need to roll it muliple times for anything worthwhile. Don't even get me started on the crap recalibration is. Why do I need to spend hard earned rare rare cedits on yet another roll so the dice? Why can't I just pick the stat I want? It makes me not even want to bother with high-end gear as its pointless. Grind forever and you may get something. A stat here, some good trait there, but never anything you truly want or feel like you acomplished something.

I am going to go out on a limb and say they did this to reduce players min/maxing builds.

But isn't that the point of a rpg? To get the character you want? If I wanted a casino I would go to one.

Crafting is one of the best ways to get top tear weapons. It is set up how it is so you can just get the perfect God gun right away. That isn't the type of game this is

If this was a purely single player game then that would be the case. Since there is the multiplayer aspect of it, the stats and abilities have to be changing. The game would die if there was only one of each type of gun and armor. They give you the cosmetic changes to make the character you want but the grind is there to keep you striving for better so you don't hit the ceiling

Well character sure and this game certainly lets you customize the ♥♥♥♥ out of your character.

The equipment and weapons, not as much control over their stats. If you could control those to such great detail.......doesn't that defeat a whole part of the game? Might as well use cheat codes for god mode and 1 hit kill homing bullets.

Recalibrating is great, if you get an item with good tallents an most of the tings you want you can roll that one stupid stat into something useful or make a low roll into a high one.

Theres nothing wrong with a system that helps further refine already good items.

That's not the problem. rolling for gear is what most games have.
the problem is that 90% of the talents are pure horse crap and everybody just keep rerolling to get those +crit and +headshot dmg talents and that's it. everything else is useless because unlike other RPG's, how fast you can drop an enemy is king and the game punishes you for not getting high DPS, all the talents and stats that dont support that is a waste of time.

health is also useless because armor is OP as hell. and engineering is useless.

basically the system is all wrong and they need to seriously revamp stuff.

sure you can build a tank, and when i see them in game that's so cute with thier shield and stuff being all RPG'ish and stuff, but honestly a group of 4 guys with high DPS will melt the enemies in seconds so everything that does not support that is a waste of time.

some people even kick you for now having 100k+ dps. nothing else matters. nothing.

What about those electronic builds?

sure you can do engineering build or whatever but seriously.. just grab an AK get 140k dps and melt faces. that's it. and that's what everybody are doing. the game doesn't have any counter vs that.
all the enemies skills become invalid because they die in 10 seconds.

electronics is good when its high. Having a ballistic shield with half a mil or more health is pretty heafty. Also it majorly increases cooldown times. But he is right in saying most talents are junk. One is None is the only good one really. But why do I want bleed resistance? Its like blind, deaf resistance. Traits added to be there, but totally worthless in the long run. Especially over the trait of extra ammo. More ammo means less down time having to run for more.

Try sayinhg that on challenge missions when most mobs have half a million or more hp. And thats not even including armor. Rikers are brutal on challenge missions. Especially when they can down you in seconds if you stick your head up at the wrong time.

Shotgun Rikers are a PITA!

Really!
You totally can use skills to kill people, but it takes sooooo much more work than just going straight DPS. And because of the way the game is built. Having straight DPS on every player still works just as well, if not better.
They really should buff some of the offensive skills in the game, most of them are next to useless on higher tier missions like challenging, compared to amount of healing and support you can do with Security and Medical.

Actually, the issue is people with DPS builds are still playing it like an RPG, which in that case, they lose a lot.
If you go straight DPS, the game is now a 3rd person shooter, and thats that.
play it like you would the old rainbow 6 games and you'll do just fine. \

getting shot = a bad time if your're kitted out for DPS.
I always tell people when they go that route: "its easy to kill people, just don't die"
DPS is pretty straight foward that way.
If you try not to get shot, it takes a bit longer, but its totally possible. I still solo DZ 30 that way. (it's still REALLY hard though lol)

Eh... A high electronic stat makes skills ready a lot sooner. And when you can fire off a heal or flashbomb every few seconds stunning a large portion of the enemies its quite useful, but I am getting side tracked. The point is recalibration is garbage and the random crap needs to go. If I am getting gold gear I don't want to spend hours grinding for some stupid RNG to cheat me out of a skill I was looking to get.
