So yeah, in essence focusing purely on the DPS numbers is misleading. Focus on the stats you want, and the weapon types you like, and build up from those as you go.
I take it you got your high end blueprint from the pheonix credit gear vendor at operation base? I see a tonne of them as I scroll down his shop menu
the thing is i think, that dps doesnt count in tallents and purpose of weapon....another example would be light machine guns, they may have lower dps, but they are great for constantly surpressing the enemy especially if someone has the ammo support station.
or a shotgun, which deals less dps but alot of instant damage...so weapons are also classified for specific use, for example it doesnt make sense if you are rushed by elites and they are close to you, to fire at them with your ak.
maybe i am wrong, i dont have hard numbers to make my case but thats at least how i look at it
Gun Mods and Gear Mods can give you A LOT of buffs and increase the DPS like crazy. I have a Vector that does around 70k DPS stock. But when I add Mods to the gun and my gear it shot up to 130K DPS. But yes don't depend on DPS alone. Keep an eye out on good talents and make sure you are able to use the talents. Those are where the big hits to enemies come from are the talents.
For something like an assault rifle or SMG, you probably want good DPS though, but you also want to be able to hit your target with every shot. Getting consistent headshots also massively increases your DPS but won't show on your weapon stats.
Finally, I want to mention the +damage to elites stat and the +armor destruction. They don't change your DPS on the character sheet but still affect it in a major way in the real world.
Example: I have a high end AK-74. It has massive stability buffs that let me get consistent headshots even at long range (also helps to pulse the trigger by the way). I could equip mods that increase my sheet DPS, but I'd get much fewer headshots, miss more in general and also have less range, another factor that doesn't even show in the in-game DPS calculation.
