You mod for accuracy and stability, for as many headshots as possible. It doesn't matter that you're skipping over the typical crit chance/crit dmg/rate of fire because that's not a Caduceus user's aim.
Only marksman rifles and Caduceus have Coolheaded, and it's the third weapon talent that has no requirements, not first. I have 4pc tact too, and you can't maintain 100% buff time without Triage. Caduceus means you can use something other than Triage. And it's usefulness is twice fold if you're playing the CC bot, keeping shotgunners in stickyflash 100% is a life saver.
I have my MK17 on hand with cool headed for just those occasions. Much prefer that gun over any AR. I dream of getting this on a FW m1a but not like that is going to happen any time soon if at all lol.
You can't compare the AR to a marksman rifle, they're meant for different situations. Unless you're sitting way behind your team, the AR is going to land more headshots in a short amount of time than amarksman rifle is going to. And that's all a weapon with Coolheaded is used for.
What are you saying is awful about them? If its the damage, or accuracy (for those of you who just hold shoot down), then your argument is pointless in this thread. Caduceus is NOT a dps dealers weapon, like I stated previously. They're only uncontrollable when you can't aim or compensate for weapon movement. The only reason a 204 LMG would beat a 204 AR, if both had the same weapon talents, is if you can't aim properly, and the increased stability is why you prefer the LMG.
I've been looking for a replacement and haven't found one yet.
If you're looking for a replacement with Coolheaded, the only thing you'll find is a marksman rifle, which in my fairly well-founded opinion, doesn't cut for a support build.
