Can Uplay and Steam users play together as a group?

My friends have this game on Uplay, but I want to buy it on Steam since I have everything on Steam, but I was wondering will we be able to play together then since we're using two different platforms or it doesnt matter?

i have it throught steam but you play with everyone that owns the game either throught uplay or steam it all the same so answer is yes

If you have bought The Division on Steam you have to install Uplay if you have bought it by Ubisoft you have to install and use Uplay so the answer is yes.
Just added you friends to Uplay and play.

Ofcourse they can, just sucks you cannot invite players via steam overlay for example, you have to go to uplay overlay.

but you can add people through steam and when you see them you click join game and then join group

uplay is on pc correct and steam is on pc correct ok so to fully answer your question and not be a complete ♥♥♥♥ about it well

uplay is a third party app witch steam uses to play uplay games so yes it will work!

well to be honest steam comes when you heat water to 100c you get steam uplay is ubisoft fail attempt to create a stable link for epople to play with "whish uplay didnt exist" but it does but i not being a ♥♥♥♥ with this reply just stating the facts :)
