The Hungry Hog exotic isn't bad but its 3rd talent can be situational but can be good if you hold the trigger down. The M-60s are great sustained fire platforms, the low rate of fire combined with an extended mag will allow you to keep heads down for a good minute or more. The M249/MK46 LMGs to me are not great, they should be good, middle of the road but it has so many problems, it jumps around too much for what amounts to only an extra 50 rounds per minute faster then all of the M-60s (which is really incorrect by the way) and it recoils far too much for the caliber that it fires. you have to dump tons of mods into stability and even then it still recoils al over the place so it's not worth it. The MG5s are fairly modable in many different ways be it crit based or stability and such. The magazine fed weapons I tend to just ignore all together most jump around a lot for no reason, rof is only slightly higher then the M249s. The Big Al is what you really want, as the talent is quite useful... not as much in PVP but you can make it work, basically gain damage buffs while shooting at enemies while in cover. It has the highest rate of fire of all of the LMGs and when Lone Star procs Wooo boy is it FUN! One of the more major negatives for the Big Al is that it has no place for rail mounted mods so you'll find you can't min max it nearly as tight as say an MG5 or the M60 because of it. You can make it work just fine but it could have been much better if there was a rail spot.
Lone Star's 6 piece perk is great... when it finally triggers and it seems that it's trigger is so random that at times I wonder if the devs even tested it. Especially given that it’s supposed to be a 75% chance to proc! It never feels like 75% ever, I could dump belts into dudes, be they non-extended or extended, sometimes the weapon dictates how frequently it procs but still not reliable as it should be. It’s fun for sure when it does buuut it’s not reliable.
Shotguns are OK with Lone Star but by and large shotguns are bad in this game by and large. You either have to saccrifice all your mod slots for accuracy or range in order to make them work behind 2 inches from your muzzle. There are good shotguns sure, the exotic Showstopper is good in a way and the Tactical S12 I think is one of the more meta weapons for shotguns. A good sawed off double barrel is a standard secondary for a lot of builds.
booster + competent = +25% dam
heavy mags +11% fire rate
haste edr chd chc
lonestar weapon swap reload is a very powerful pk buff.
only lonestar can use heavy mags with allahandro for the extra 5.6% burst damage rate (11.2% fire rate max vs 5.6% for extended).
if any other build tried that they might only spend 10% of the time actually shooting, rest of time is reloading.
with lonestar you can have both super high burst damage rate and sustained rate (especially with some luck with the ls proc, but you cannot rely on that. the reload on weapon swap you can rely on).
