No interaction with loot boxes (DARK ZONE ONLY)

I am having trouble opening chests in the dark zone. I use a pad and can use keyboard however when I approach a chest there is no "X" or "F" to open the chest.
Now I know there is a spawn time to reset it however my friends have opened them infront of me saying they have no trouble and that there is always an option to open for them. I do have a DZ level of 33 and I am level 17. Has anyone had this issue or know how to resolve this?

First question is are you in the correct level bracket? If your friends are putting you into a higher or lower bracket for your level, that may prevent you from opening it. Second is have you checked your binds to make sure you have a button set for actions?

Dumb question but i want to get it out of the way. Do you have darkzone keys?

Not a dumb question as I ensure I had keys as I thought that was the issue but it's not. I do have Dark Zone keys, yes.
My friends are literally my level. The area I go to "try" open boxes are also the NPC levels and "player bracket" I'll go to an area for level 16-18 and I just have no luck.

Sometimes is bugged.Go in another area and open other one :)

The only other thing I can think of is your controller is conflicting some how. Next time you are at one, unplug the controller and try with mouse and keyboard.

Tried many areas, even now. Bare in mind I am level 33 in DZ rank so it's so odd I can't open one.
I have also tried using only a mouse/keyboard. Sounds like there's no hope. Thanks for the suggestions as it is appreciated.

Maybe it's just I am at the wrong level bracket by just 1 and I am too slow to get to boxes in time. I'll keep checking. Thanks

I am level 30 and DZ 64.Sometime I canot open a box of my first try, but if I came back later I can open it. This is especially true for one in DZ1 where I usually start.

"There are three different types of chests in the Dark Zone. The first are just bog standard things that anyone can open, and as such, aren't holding anything particularly noteworthy.

The second are ranked chests, which you can only open if you meet the DZ rank requirement. Thanks for your message, After reaching level 20 I have now been able to open certain chests but some of my friends can open others which I might not so I guess it wasn't a glitch after all. I'll just go on along with it.
