What's the best PVE and PVP weapon?

So I've played for about 40 hours, reached the endgame content and unlocked pretty much everything, including the underground dlc.
Since I really like the game and there's a lot of guns in it, I was wondering which pve and pvp weapons were worth grinding for. I currently have the liberator but it doesn't feel too good, to be honest.
I love assault rifles, so fire away guys, what are your suggestions?

I light the lightweight M4 for pve i think it handles the best. SMGS are better for pvp.

Yeah, I love the Lightweight M4. Haven't been able to find another since reaching max level. Game hates me and my life decisions lol.

I love ACRs for mid range fighting. You sacrifice a little DPS for better control which means more hits downrange.

For close quarters an SMG is great with its superior DPS.

Just keep in mind all this is depending on your firearms.

Actually AR:S are best for PVP as usually you wont be super close to your target and you lose your accuracy!
