Transferring files from Uplay to Steam.
I downloaded the free trial via Uplay and now plan to buy it on Steam. Can I throw everything from the Uplay folder into the Steam one and have it work, or do I have to download the whole game again?

I should see if that guy I mentioned this to yesterday had it work or not.

You can try this - it should work, but I have no confirmation if it will: Create a folder called "Tom Clancy's The Divsion" and then find the uplay files. The folder that contains "thedivision.exe" move everything from there into the Steam folder you just created. Install the game on steam and go from there...

I don't think you should do anything. I downloaded the free trial on uplay. Deleted the game and downloaded it on steam. Game works with all my save intact. So best not to touch the folder IMHO.

I think it´s done automatically aswell, I downloaded the trial via steam yesterday, and afterwards I bought it through steam. Didn´t have to do anything or download anything else for it to work.

He is not talking about save files but data files so he doesn't have to download 40 gb again.

Correct. Division uses cloud saves so no matter where you are, if you're signed into your account, you have access to your saves... There are no save files stored locally on your PC.

Don´t buy ubi games in steam : you get 2 DRM instead of just 1

not sure if this works, but if the Steam install uses same files as uPlay version, trying installing the game on Steam by clicking install then stop the download, exit steam and copy the Division game folder/files from uPlay installed location to Steamapps folder. then run verify game integrity on Steam.

You have to copy the files before installing and steam will automatically discover existing files.

This works just fine! Make sure you didn't start the download on Steam before moving the files from Ubisoft. Once the game is installed on Steam, open it and Uplay will ask for a folder to install it (again), choose the Steam folder where you moved the files to, and it will do the same thing Steam did. There you go.

That's Right. thanks worked for my R6

Just uninstall the game if steam keeps downloading the whole game and do this again

Just did it to Far Cry 3 Blood Dragon, the thing is I copied the files from Uplay to Steam folders but Steam did not recognized right away. Then I hit the download button for the game and then Steam started downloading 300MB of files. Much better than the full 2.7GB.
