After it loads in your directions are in the bottom left corner.

Conmnect to your ISP's router IP shown in the bottom left.
Probe it, hack it.

Then click search IP.

Find your IP

Then click "Renew"

You'll now be disconnected and the system will reload with a new IP.

Incidentally, there's also a text file which explains the process in the home directory of the server. I read that damn fast the first time I had to rest my IP...

Funny enough, you can actually reboot the console during the trace and it'll go away

so this is quite an old post but im hoping someone can help. when i get to the trace, i type "connect 68.144.93.18", as it says. However, it says that there is no computer connected to that IP. Any help is appreciated.

There will always be the correct IP in the bottom left while in trace aversion.

Yeah, at the time this happens (especially the first) you are likely so flustered even knowing what to do it can still be a task. It's only happened two or three times to me, but I still get anxiety shakes and it's like I don't know how to read anymore!

Basically just think about what you're doing, your IP has been traced and in order to hide again, you'll have to connect to another machine and change it. That window in the bottom left is all the info you'll need, connect to the IP it shows and follow the steps on that machine. Hardest part is really making sure you aren't rushing and hitting a key twice or something.

And yes, a forkbomb or even Ctrl+F4 can save you the trouble, but where's the fun in that? Show off your 1337 skillz!

sorry.

does this actually reset your save like it says it will? when I got traced I saw that and just reloaded my most recent save out of fear

I think this is bugged, I was able to log in to the ISP, hack in, and when searching for what it showed was my IP it wasn't able to find it. After forkbombing a few times, I noticed the listed IP for myself in the bottom left window changed a bit after the failed search attempt, from something like 233.75.93.18 or something to the real one, something like 233.75.239.8
