Tracker help
I dont understand how to counter tracking. I can seem to hack some ports because the trackers catch me so quickly I can do anyting once I break through.

Remember, more shells means the Proxy goes down faster.

Just fire up 3-4 proxies, set them all to overload and you'll be through any system fairly quickly.

Does that mean that most systems wont reset like Naix's systems did? everytime I got through everything then disconnected I lost all my progress when reconnecting.

1. Use about 4 or 5 shells
2. Overload the proxy
3. When the proxy is bypassed, run the crack tools (WebServerWorm, FTPBounce... > PortHack)
And if you're already doing this, it might be that you are working slightly too slow?
Elsarild Aug 16, 2015 @ 11:17am
No, but if you only use a single shell to overload a Proxy like the one on Naix's system, you'll waste upwards of 30-40 seconds of your time just breaking the proxy, if however you go to, say 4 different nodes you already have admin rights on, open a new shell on each of them so that you have 4 shells in your RAM block, you can set all of them to overload on 1 proxy, breaking it much faster, and leaving you with more time to do your job.

No one actually answered the question though: How do you stop the trace (trap etc.).

You don't.

At a later stage you can pause it, but there is no definitive way of stopping it aside from disconnecting.

You'll eventually get a tool that helps but the only way to stop a trace in progress is to disconnect.

One trick I like to do is get PortHack running and then disconnect. PortHack will keep running remotely. Just before it finishes the hack, reconnect and the trace timer will reset.

No, it doesn't make a lot of sense but oh well.

Wht Elsarild said; You can't stop it, later in the game you do get TraceKill.exe but that only pauses it and uses up almost all the RAM.

Thanks for all the help

What I've been doing is once I've broken into the system I rush over to the log files, delete them then disconnect and reconnect and I still have admin access but there is no trace running anymore so I can then take my time poking around the system.

This doesn't work for every computer though. For some you need to overload proxy, solve firewall etc.. all over again.

I haven't played the game in a while, but according to my previous answer you can pause it using TraceKill.exe
