Does this teach you how to hack?

Just out of curiousity ive never played games like this before but do these types of games teach you how to hack the way guitar hero teaches ppl to play guitar? (which is not really)

It doesn't really teach you hacking.

Similarly, if you know nothing about hacking, can this game even be played/learned without outside help? Or would everything just make no sense / be impossible.

This game teaches you everything you need to know in order to use the commands that're featured. You don't need any experience of UNIX or hacking to play it.

I would compare this to guitar hero to a real guitar.

As Aidy said, this game teaches you pretty much everything you need to know. There is even a help command
