How do you edit files.

So i am stuck on the death row inmate thing.
How do you use the template, and /or how do you edit the template.

cat template.txt

replace "[FIRST_NAME]" "John"
replace "[LAST_NAME]" "Smith"

etc... Just keep going until you replaced all the necessary parts.
