Hacknet - WITHOUT x-server

This is something I tried out today...It doesn't work.

And I don't mean that as in to say "the game is broken without the x-server." Rather more along the line of "it's impossible to perform certain actions in the game without the x-server."

Seems you NEED the x-server to actually play. I mean, without it you have to get Admin access to JMail to read your emails, but even then, you can't respond to emails using a command. You can select and accept missions using CLI.

Honestly, I'm a little shocked I've not seen something like this already. I would have thought that there were a few people at least that would like this challenge!

Personally, I would love this to happen. But to make this happen the Devs may need to look into expanding their syntax. Maybe make things a little more "relatable". Such as, using Nmap command to scan for computers (like scan atm). Extending this to use Nmap command to connect to an ip, further extending to run port probes and hell, maybe even introduce switches!

nmap - Scan a computer, like the standard "scan" at the minute
nmap connect [xxx.xxx.xxx.xxx] - Connect to an IP (maybe even nmap -cn [IP]
nmap probe - probe the ports - Again, possible extended to nmap probe [IP] or again another switch nmap -p [IP]

The list would be extremely large, and I get that, But making it a CHOICE for people to be able to play in a "Extreme mode" or "Hacker" mode or something.

I hope this is something the Devs will consider, hopefully even implement!

Devs, more like Dev, as in singular.

Their is really only ONE Dev working on this game and his plate is already full with planned things; like getting linux and Mac ports fully working and it was mentioned Multiplayer would be after that.

While I can agree more console commands would be nice, that is what it is, a nice thing to have.
If the Dev gets around to it, he'll get around to it.

I honestly wish this was an option, and of course, that there was an achievement for it. Just saying "♥♥♥♥ it" and not getting an x-server back, and just playing the game without it.

Wow one Dev, that's tough. Honestly I wish I could help, but my coding is litterally non-existent.

I'll be happy if it's just something that will eventually be considered and implemented.
