using the terminal in a Linux fashion will get you the most realistic hacking since all real hackers use Linux, not the spyware known as Winblows 10.
it does include real programs like;
nmap
notes (a mini text program for keeping notes)
Forkbomb
and a number of tools imply the exploit they use to break a port or bypass a security measure.
The main app portHack is a Hollywood hacking program, as is with the game having you be a active attacking hacker,
as most hackers operate using passive methods for as long as possible while collecting information before going for or using a active hack if one is needed to get what they want.
Some sections of the game will require you to acquire a hackers mindset in working a network to get where you want to go.
If your wondering what type of elite hacker you become in this game, even if the game says your and elite hacker, it's "Script Kiddie", one rank above the "DoS and DDoS wimps" which are at the bottom of the hacker list.
(good and elite hackers do look down on and have no respect for those that do DoS and or DDoS attacks and may even attack them, Script Kiddies do get a measure of respect.)
Not enough to be a Script Kiddie or even a real Linux user, but enough that you could start as a Linux user and or be a cyber security ware user when doing things in a computer or network.
There are real world parts and Hollywood parts in this game, some parts even blur the line some.
You only have about 10-20 real basic terminal commands in game, out of the 50+ basic programs and commands out there that generally are included with Linux distro.
One thing off about some of the real world commands and programs is that they are not 100% like there real world counter-parts, nmap not taking params/arguments being one of them.
If you want to get some real learning about real hacking, you'll need to learn a lot about computers and networks before you can really touch and understand the hacking or cyber security stuff that you can learn. You can even become a certified hacker (white-hat kind) by completing exams like; CySA+, PenTest+, CASP+
To give an idea in percent to be a real basics the game gives
Basic Linux Knowledge: 35%
Basic Hacking: 35%
If you want to be a power house in these topics it's easy to get certified for them if you can learn and understand the content.
A Linux+[www.comptia.org] study guide can make you a power house compared to other folks and can help in finding a job.
The Cyber Security (or White Hat Hacker)[www.comptia.org] one requires a number of subjects and a number of tests to be really certified.
