How much is real
I want to learn how to start hacking in real life and I want to how much of this game actually translated into real life. If anyone who experience can answer the would be great

there are Real parts to hacking in this game, and there are parts that are not real.

Certain missions really require using a hacker thinking cap, the rest not so much.

Terminal Commands and some applications are real, though without args/params that are required for their RL counterparts.

Also Real Hackers use Linux, Not Windows.
In fact I believe real hackers laugh at any hacker that uses Windows as well

The basic commands and the general thinking is real (compared to 99% of the bogus and unrealistic hacking nonsense you see in movies and TV). But it doesn't go further, it's still a game with entertainment as its core.

If you'd like something a little more real, there are hacking sites (however more web oriented), where you need to hack the page to get to the next one. They're at beginner level (you'll rarely see those flaws on real sites, otherwise the guy doing the security should get fired) but it's real hacking.

More realistic than Uplink... Yes. More realistic than Street Hacker... I think so.
However - it is to hacking as Elite Dangerous is to spaceflight.

There are a lot of "real" stuff you can find here. Real in quotes being that obviously since Hacknet is a work of fiction facts may have a little sugar coating on top to make some things be sligthly different than they are, so not 100% correct even if pretty accurate.

Some stuff definetly references real stuff though
Main game second path
/el and Polar Star is definetly based on 4chan (censors ahoy lol) and Cicada 3301
DLC
Neopals is based on Neopets
The mission regarding mechanical keyboards does have some proper trivia regarding them which you can totally go and read if you are interested and you even get an imgur link from a memdump to see someone's keyboard collection

Some naming references:
CFC is KFC
Macrosoft is well Microsoft
Nortron is, you get the idea

In the endgame do read various text files and decypt the .dec files, you can find the deveopers of the thing you are investigating write their reports of their work describing what and how they do, which is a simplified version of some true facts.
