Why is Elliot Whit on ivermectin?
No spoilers for mechanics or anything, just the nature of one mission, Project Junebug.

(Google search didn't turn anything up, so... hoping this isn't a duplicate.)

In this mission, Project Junebug, you're asked to hack Elliot's pacemaker. You're told he's requested assisted suicide and been denied and that he's in a lot of pain. I wanted to double-check and make sure this was accurate before actually killing someone, and...

I looked up his medical record, because I wanted to make sure I knew what was going on, see if he's actually in pain. (Spoilers as to the nature of that mission in the notes.)

Elliot is on ivermectin, supposedly to regulate his heart rate. Ivermectin is used to treat parasites, not heart conditions. (I've given pets heartworm meds so I knew the name.) And I didn't know much else about it, so the rest of this is stuff I learned from about twenty minutes on google. It's not even an experimental treatment for heart stuff.

However, there are some potential cardiological (heart) side effects to ivermectin, although they aren't very common and can depend on the type of parasite being treated (dying onchocerciasis/river blindness parasites tend to cause lots of side effects, including potentially a rapid heartbeat).

And apparently reported side effects have included tachycardia (heart rate of more than 100 BPM).

WHO'S GIVING HIM IVERMECTIN? I kind of hope, though I'm not optimistic about it, that there's something I missed, that I can find an email for his doctor and email the doctor and get him taken off the meds and hopefully find out if he's allergic or having a reaction to that before going ahead and hacking his pacemaker.

Maybe it's his family, the same family that apparently already attempted to kill/euthanize him according to the info email. Did they do it without his consent? Did they do it with his consent? Did one of them get him on ivermectin to reduce his quality of life so he'd want to die? He has a Master's of Law from Manchester, and he's 56, so I'm guessing he's a lawyer. He probably has money. Maybe someone wants that money or wants him off a case or something.

I looked in the medical records database, the degree databases, and skimmed through subject names in the Jmail server. Anywhere else I can look for more info before I decide what to do?

I don't know if I'm going to do this mission. I know he's just a character described by pixels on a screen, but... I'm still going to need a long-ish break from this game before I decide.

Nowhere else, you're overthinking it.

For one I'm pretty confident the game doesn't go in depth on this specific detail
and secondly, just kill him or don't kill him. Regardless of what you do, there is always the chance that they lied to you and you did the wrong thing either way.

Also as a side note. If we were to look at this realistically - if you're not gonna do it, someone else would eventually.

Just pick your poison and go for it.

There is no other data, and there is a bug in the game in that you have to do Junebug as you can send deny, but doing so breaks the game.
