Perhaps it's a bit dated, but it's still a good game, a lot more free-form.
Thanks for the tip....I willl check it
Is the OS mod a 3rd party tool?
Yes found it.
Thanks for the tip
=Technically these were a programming games list, but fairly similar concept I think=
- Two Zachtronics games in particular that are more programming related:
TIS-100 and Shenzen I/O
- Quadrilateral Cowboy - Short objective based levels in first person
-else Heart.Break() - I wasn't too sure about this one, it's like a jrpg style, but the hacking component seems pretty crazy.
- Duskers - Hadn't heard of this before, you program little robots to explore abandoned ships.
Then there's the more harcore stuff like Telehack (which seems really intriguing) and Top Secret, the game you play by email and pretend to be Edward Snowden (not literally).
- Mainlining (demo available)- You kind of take the opposite of the usual role, playing as an agent of the government and tracking and convicting various criminals. (Personal Suggestion here)
- Replica and Sarah is Missing - Not sure if that counts as hacking, but again same ballpark I feel. You need to recover information on another persons phone, using the info you can get out of it. These feel like a reverse escape the room, but much more story and detail.
Finally there is a game coming out "soon" called Need to Know, which looks very similar in gameplay and tone to Mainlining. I want it.
This game is so much more fun than I thought it would be. It's definitely a very different game than hacknet (hacknet is still my fav, but if you already beat it..). It's a fun little RPG that starts off a little strange, but soon discover the real element of the game.
I don't want to spoil anything, as discovery is the best part of the game, but you can 'hack' anything in the game world. It's like Stardew Valley meets the Matrix (not really, but I don't know what else to compare it to).
else Heart.Break() is living up to it's name for me. I think I have to play it when I have lots of time to screw around and not really care about getting anywhere in the game. But Stardew Valley Matrix would be a great game itself.
One other think is to be wary of the multitude of 'hacking' games Steam will suggest you, there are quite a few crappy little ones not worth your time.

Available soon!
There is a playable demo available, which I really recommend!
Honestly, that's the best description of it I've ever heard. Really interesting idea, but it's a bit unwieldy.
