I just tried it out (in the HL2 demo)
and this is the result.

It apears as if the files for the energy blast itself are missing.
That means you're essentially playing TE120, but using assets in the HL2 directory.
If you're acquainted with the game files, you can instead copy the HL2 maps and paste them into TE120's map directory.
Otherwise, there is no way to put the concussion gun into HL2 other than getting the source code of TE120 and making a mod for HL2 with it.
