Kona

Only 13.5% of players finished the game?
First off: I love the game. I finished in 13h and got most of the achievemens minus the 'no smoking/no drinking' ones. Looking at the stats though, only 13% of players actually finished the game, which seems odd. Do you think they give up at the end sequence or is there something i'm missing?

I am waiting to complete the game when the loading screens are gone as they kill athmosphere.
Played only the Early Access version extensively.

Interesting. I wonder if the other players came from the same angle (early adopters getting access to the full game). It would make sense indeed in that context . For me, Kona was a massive surprise, I expected nothing (bought it a long time ago because i buy all walking sims when they come out), loaded it becaue i was bored, got glued to the screen for 13h.

PS: loading is intermitent between 'zones'. I think it's disk related because on my mac 2016 (crazy fast 900mB/sec read/write performance), the load time were notieable but nothing horirlbe (maybe 5 seconds at the very most)

I'm a good example of that rule. I have 200+ games on Steam and I don't know if I finished 10 of them :P

I guess people just played the early acces version and didnt want to wait months for the second part to be released.

for me, the blo**y achievements did not even unlock, so I guess that happened to many players, too, who actually finished the game.

Actually, I can see on your profile that you unlocked 7 achievements. It may be a bug with the Steam overlay (if it is activated).

I kinda get the motionsickness with this game, so it will take a long time for me. Maybe other people experience similar problems and stop playing?

Sorry you are having these issues :(

Here are some setting changes that can help with motion sickness:
  • Graphics settings: lower preset if you play under 60 fps. Reaching 60 fps can help a little.
  • Graphics settings: disable Motion Blur
  • Controls: enable the Crosshair
  • Graphics settings: disable Dynamic Foliage (the trees won't move anymore though, but I know that it solved the issue for at least one player)
Hope it helps, let me know how it goes :)

TL:DR
Right before the final scene - can't bring myself to finish the game because it's too enjoyable, I don't want it to end and there's still lots to find... definitely not because of apathy or boredom. Love the game, can't wait for the sequel (s?)

Long version:
After 7 & a bit hours I'm very close to finishing my first play-through.
I'm deliberately trying to take my time because the experience is too enjoyable to be rushed & I'm the sort of person who likes to take a good story completely on board & really feel like I know it
(though I'm shocked at how much stuff I've missed considering I thought I was being quite thorough for a first run!)

Now that I'm looking down the barrel of the last scene however, I find myself not wanting the game to end.... at least not before there's a sequel ready to walk into!

So instead of finishing the game I'm going back to start again & really seriously figure things out this time... I mean sit there with a real pen & paper and see if my sleuthing can paint a bigger picture of the game world & its inhabitants.

This time I want every photo, every journal entry, every achievement, every last tiny scrap of detail there is to be had.
With so much information available that's superfluous to the central plot I feel like this game portrays something much broader than we actually get to see - a world with complex relationships, thoughts, agendas & motivations - a real living story (ironically about people who are dead!) and plausible flesh given to all of it... icy... blue... plausible... flesh!
That's some depth right there!

So that's why you wont be seeing me finishing the game for a while. I'm too busy building the rest of the world in my head! Looking forward to a sequel so I can build on the other side of the river!

@Jean-Francois Fiset... Brilliant bit of storytelling!. Congrats to you & your team on a great game and an unusually positive Steam forum - all very rare stuff these days!

They may have found the game too difficult and by difficult I mean time consuming. Games these days have indicators to tell you where to go. By the press of a button the objectives can appear on screen as a reminder.
Kona wants you to check the map and Carl's collected documents and journal on a regular basis. I think people got bored of this after a while and decided not to finish the story.
