Tips for wolves
Anyone have any tips for wolves. I managed to kill one in the ice cave with 3 rifle shots. Pistol has no effect it seems and beating them with a crowbar is also useless. I'm not running through the north forest at night and wolves keep popping up and chasing me. Made it to the cabin and quit the game for awhile, but looking at the map I've got a long way to go.

ALSO - what controls the day/night cycle. I don't like playing in the dark. Is it scripted or on a timer?

Nighttime is scripted and happens after you find all 4 frozen bodies.

As for the wolfs, the axe is a better choice than the crowbar. Axe kills them with 2 hits (both the normal ones and the night time ones). Just be sure to go to a fireplace or take a painkiller/smoke/drink beer (depending on if you aim for the achivements) to recover your "stamina". As you have come to the night wolf, I recommend just running at it and hit it, and then run quickly against it directly after and hit it again.

It takes only one shot with both guns to kill ice wolf are you sure you are hitting them? Carl's accuracy and shaky hands with low sanity are pretty bad so make sure they are close enough.

Steaks are also a good temporary solution for avoiding wolves

I just ran up to it and whacked it with the axe. One hit kill.

Thanks for tips. I forgot about axe. And never considered steaks. I figured I'd get to cook those. :).
Btw if you were referring to the ice wolves, there's a way to avoid most of em without wastint a bullet. But i won't spoil it, so if you wanna know add me.

I know this is an old thread but I've just started playing Kona and wondering what the way to avoid the wolves is so could you share please? You could use the spoiler tags to hide the content so people who are trying to avoid spoilers can but for others they can choose to find out (I've already seen some spoilers as checked achievement guides to try and avoid having lots of play throughs to get the achievements)

You can throw them a steak or shoot without aiming at them (above, beside, etc)

The people above mentioned a way of doing it without wasting bullets and also steak had previously been mentioned so assumed it was a different suggestion

The only way to avoid them without wasting bullets or steaks is to run away.
