[SPOILERS] Ending Discussion & Connection to The Cat Lady
So, hopefully I'm doing this right- there'll probably be a huge chunk of spoiler'd text here in a second.
Please don't look if you haven't gotten at least one ending in Downfall (I've only gotten the Golden Ending myself) and ALSO if you've never finished The Cat Lady- there'll also be endgame spoilers for that.

Bluh bluh, lots of spoilers- here goes.

So, it was pretty clear to me that by the end of Downfall at least SOME of what was going on took place in the 'real world' of the apartment on Helen Road. It's not a perfect match, but both 'Quiet Haven' and the apartment building have a ground floor and then four floors.

If you've played through The Cat Lady, you know all the people who live in that building and even what floor they're on. Even in the Golden Ending in Downfall the newspaper at the end mentions multiple dead people in the building, although it is fuzzy whether they died in the fire or were killed beforehand (I can only imagine the newspaper is possibly worse in the non-Golden Ending).

What I've sort of been puzzling over is- does anyone else think you can match the people who lived on the various floors from The Cat Lady with people Joe possibly murdered while wandering around over the course of Downfall?

Floor 1:
Downfall- child!Sophie & an empty room that Joe and Ivy check into
Cat Lady- The Dog Lady & an empty apartment

Floor 2:
Downfall- The room where you meet Dr. Z and Agnes plus Harrison's room/where teen(?) Sophie meets her end
Cat Lady- Susan/Mitzi & Joe/Ivy's actual apartment

Floor 3:
Downfall- The Party Room/Where you meet Harrison, the bathroom, the hidden corridor where you find Dr.Z's body
Cat Lady- Bryan & The Old Man/Adam's apartment (which is probably vacant at this point)

Floor 4:
Downfall- The Temptress' Office & Final Sophie
Cat Lady- Pauline & Jesse

Now I've probably gone on too long already, but I think if any character has a match between games... I'd worry about Pauline (hopefully I got her name right)- she was the lady with the baby in The Cat Lady. She lives on the same floor as The Temptress, plus she was actually wanting to get back to her job in hotel management if you talked to her in The Cat Lady... so... I have to wonder if even in the 'Golden Ending' I might have made Joe bury an axe in her head.

I also think Harrison and Bryan the ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ neighbor being on the same floor might be an interesting point- and there are probably other little points there like part of Floor 3 being hard to access and there plausibly being an investigation into The Old Man/Adam's apartment after the events of The Cat Lady.

Or I could be entirely wrong and trying to read into things too much. Anyone else have any thoughts on the matter?

Wasn't there more than five people in that building in Cat Lady? I am positive about Joe killing Hellen Road Building inhabitants but I've played Cat Lady pretty much time ago and can't remember now names or details. I guess you can add to bodycount Cat Lady herself and +- probably Mitzi?

At least in the Golden ending Susan is definitely alive, as she is quoted in the newspaper- and if I recall right the newspaper also said she was 'one of the survivors.' I'm sort of siding with optimism and thinking she and Mitzi made it out alive.
I recently played The Cat Lady, so I think my count of the people in the apartment, barring anyone's vistors, is pretty accurate? Well, I didn't mention Pauline's baby...
I do hope I'm getting the names of everyone right, though.
Also, there's Dr. Z, who is probably mapped to Dr. Zelman (spelling?) who is Joe's therapist. I'm of the opinion that he probably came to the apartment to check up on Joe after he missed a bunch of meetings (this info from the letter you steal in The Cat Lady) and was killed. Then again, there's no real evidence that he actually entered the apartment- I'm just going slightly off of the original Downfall, where Joe definitely killed his therapist.

It really makes me sad that Joe is that much of a psycho...

Mitzi dies of cancer at the end of The Cat Lady, or she dies when she kills the 5th Parasite.

This actually makes the 'Good' ending for The Cat Lady canon.

Susan and Mitzi are both alive. Susan is immortal so she probably just woke up. Mitzi's canon death is caused by cancer.

The next game in the series will focus around Lorelai, and we'll find out why the 6th Parasite, Joe, is so important.

I thought I read somewhere that the 'Good' ending to The Cat Lady wasn't canon- in any case, I think it's possible for Mitzi to show up at the end of Downfall and still die of cancer... she had some number of months left (though that is a really depressing thought- go through all of The Cat Lady, then the apartment burning down, and THEN die of cancer). It's unclear really how much time has passed between the end of the main action in The Cat Lady and the start of Downfall, I think...?

The game did confirm that Susan still seems to be immortal because she seemed pretty freaking dead during the 'Golden' ending to Downfall, and yet was alive to give a report on what happened to the newspaper.

I have a theory that the "terrorist" attack that made Susans Husband go barmy was in actual fact the explosion caused by Robbies Grenade. If Susan was in her 20s when her baby died and Joe was like 10-12 then it adds up when he is in his 30s by the time TCL and Downfall take place.

I just hope in a future harvester game we will finally know who the hell placed these grenades there and why

Joe wouldn't be a complete psycho since he met the queen of maggots who as we know is apart of The Cat Lady.

And it was mentioned in the game that Joe was "the sixth parasite" by the queen of maggots, which is why Susan still has her immortality.
