I get that, but don't black knights just get destroyed in melee? Looked up their stats, if the wiki page is right.. Less health (overall) than grave guard, same leadership, less melee attack, less melee defense, worse shields, same damage but with a longer time between attacks and missing the +10 against infantry grave guard get, less armor..
Pretty sure black knights are wasted left in a protracted melee, before even getting into the argument of how they compare to blood knights.
Problem is it's a sub optimal way to use cavalry period. And Black Knights are not good at it. Chaos Knights are as Daliena said.
Some cavalry does fare better in melee, but if you can get repeated open charges into an enemies flank it's always going to be more effective to do that. Especially in this game, because cavalry doesn't have a long acceleration period before they "charge".
If he's doing that he might as well just take Crypt Horrors instead of BK's. Little slower but no micromanagement needed.
I agree. My Crypt Horrors bust some serious heads in battle and Van Hel's Danse takes care of any speed difference.
