Best ways to vassalize any faction?
No matter which faction, it seems to me that even with great relations, overpowering military, and with the other faction being either very weak and/or down to their last city, it appears the only good way to vassalize someone is by force (taking their last city and choosing the "subjugate" option) which most of the time seems to wipe them out without giving you the option depending on your faction and theirs.

So, what is the best way to vassalize any faction as any faction via diplomatic route?

I don't think you can, subjugate is the only way really.

On my first game as the dwarves I had an ally with really great relations who I wanted to vassalize, even with many gifts and 1,000,000+ gold they still refused. (It was Bretonia),

The new patch somewhat mess up the diplomacy. Breaking treaties will give more negative rating in player's diplomacy.

You need a mod to make diplomacy little bit easier.

Vassalizing some faction in the game is useless even their tribute is small to care about and likely betray you thanks to the stupid patch about diplomacy ( i think CA wanted to make their campaign Ai little bit aggressive but ruins the diplomacy of the game).

The only good thing w/ vassalizing a faction will be you can replenish in their territories and they will not easilly declare war in other faction.

Sadly most of the time stronger faction and mostly your allies due they will become strong thanks to you will likely attack your vassal. Also as VC it useless to have a vassal unless its a vampire faction even VC have military access they still suffer from attrition. ( It will be cool as VC if VC have military access to other faction they will not suffer from attrition. Hopefully there will be a mod for that)

I suggest just go on defensive alliance and never go on military alliance it still have the same benefit.

Defensive alliance somewhat have lower penalty if you going to break your treaty than military alliance but it is still severe due to the stupid patch.

If your going on alliance or vassalize them always ask for military access. Tresspassing to ai territory will give you diplomacy penalty.

I want to vassalize weaker factions in territories I have no interest in or would be strategically unwise spending resources to defend but at the same time can't leave to my enemies to conquer and expand closer to me.

IIRC you can't vassalize them until you're at war with them.

Yes, I concur, diplomacy seems broken for the player atm. If the AI breaks a treaty, you will get the reliability hit. This is ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ all my Empire games early on, since I want to have all the elector counts as leader of my Armies (+ a Lord @ Round 1 renaming him 'Kurt Helborg' :)
).

Even if you are strength rank 1 and they are 30-40 and you outnumber them with 6-10 stacks with 20 units, they will rarely give into Confederation early on(mean pre-chaos), if they aren't pressured or chaos is there or the relation is high enough (> 100).

Give a faction a city with any military building and vasalize. It will work for lvl1 city and lvl1 barracks. A bit of exploit
