Yeah, I understand the logic in this. But from what I heard, the Dwarves think the only reasons humans and goblins bring spears to a battle, is because of it's light and they can faster when it's time to flee the battlefield.
This is why no dwarf would ever accept to fight with a spear. Even if the ax they using broke, but this is very unlikely since Dwarves Weaponsmiths are probably the best you can find.
Right...
Who needs spears when you can have slayers?!?!? I Know they might seem expensive but getting 1 or 2 of them can really be worth it if your opponent uses alot of cav and monstous infantry.
Just use your longbeards to absorve cav and monster charges and then use your slayers to hit em from the rear , they will do massive damage to them and u can easily draw them back to safety if another charge comes.
I'd rather see a tolken mod that adds hog riding dwarves.
Does the WHF dwarfs have anything like that in the lore/TT?
No, they have no spear and no cavalry type units. The only thing you can call as their mobile unit is the gyrocopters. Otherwise, they are meant to be a slower, with smaller units than other faction. It may not seem logical like that if you come from the TW series and never played Warhammer on TT before, but the army in Warhammer are built to have differents strength and weakness when you play differents factions. So You have completely different playstyle in general.
Actually, it was my main concern at first when I heard there would be a TW Warhammer. I was afraid they would neglect the unique ^playstyle from different factions for more balance. While there is some decision made for more balance, you can still feel the different playstyle while playing 2 differents factions. What was not always the case with the previous TW titles.
This is WFB based...
So no SpearDwarves and no Calvery but the AirCorp.
WFB Dwarves are basically an entrenched ranged army for the most part and the game does a decent job of representing that depending on how you build your Dwarf Lord.
Thunderers are you best bet i guess.
When it come to hex wraiths and cairn wraiths don't even get me started.
