How to deal with Manticores?

So I'm at turn 150ish in my Empire playthough and am starting to fight the Chaso warriors. I've recently had my ass handed to me by an army with 3 manticores in it.

I figured using spears and halberds vs them would be great since those units do well vs large, but my men got absolutely pounded.

What strategy do you guys use against manticores? I've tried spearmen, I've tried focusing them with crossbow men...nothing seems to work.

Spears and halberds will do the trick if the manticore tries to fight them specifically, especially if you have honest steel maxed out because the manticores survivability is trash. Xbows can be a little iffy just because bow weapons tend to have issues hitting flyers, handguns or free company will probably serve you better, and honestly, you should be massing handguns vs a faction like chaos. Cannons can take them out okish, and you can always try to net them for your shooting with a lore of light caster. Otherwise, cavalry or your own flying lords are good counters too. The manticore is really squishy, so anything that can stay on it and hit it consistently tends to melt it.
