i just dont seem to be able to kill the empire and britonnia when the norscans just rando decide to show up on turn 100, and the worst part it isnt EVERY campaign so im not planning for it

wtf do i do when a norscan tribe shows up with skin wolfs and mammoths? i know im not the best player but wtf? is this now a normal thing because of the dlc? this is my first playthrough as grimgore since the DLC and ide rather not waiste another hour to find this out a second time

You're talking about the Bjornling, right? They've always been in the game, but since they're a norsca faction they got the improved roster. They're scripted to spawn the moment the large chaos invasion triggers and they'll always land at the southern part of the Badlands. They've been a part of the game since launch specifically to give the badlands a taste of chaos, since Archaon and friends normally take a severe beating before they reach Black Fire Pass.

For mammoths, you should consider countering them with your own monsters. Giants and trolls are going to be your friends here, since mammoths are armored and they both get armor-piercing. Personally, I like to have a giant and two units of trolls in my stacks to act as my 'brute squad'. Orc Boar Big'uns are another good choice to bring against mammoths, since they're one of the few Greenskins units that get anti-large and they also have armor piercing.

Skin wolves are fast dangerous anti-large units, so keep them away from your own monsters and cavalry at all costs. Ideally, you'll want to trap them in between a unit of black orcs and a unit of orc big'uns. Since skin wolves don't have armor piercing, the armor of the black orcs will help survivability and the armor-piercing is great if you're dealing with armored skin wolves. Orc big'uns will absolutely slaughter anything that's unarmored, and the 'Bigger & 'Arder' trait gives them a small bonus to large units like skin wolves.

ty for the strat, i built everything for the empire and brit, was in there areas finishing the game up b4 arch showed his face and then poof, 4 norscan armies all coming with their own mammoths with subs on them blasting "im blue, if i was green i would die"

Goblin and orc archers are actually probably the most cost effective mammoth counter for the orcs, all while being good vs the other lightly armored norsca units in general. AI tends to be terrible about running through enemy lines with its mammoth and into your archers, so you can muck them up on your infantry(especially if you have black/savage orcs for your front line) and let the archers do the heavy hitting.

Arachnaroks also beat mammoths in a 1 v 1 and are imho a much better investment than giants.
