3-4 player multiplayer campaign! Ideas :)
I know some of people here are agiainst more then 2 player campaign but for people like me its needed.
When i have my friends over together at my place and we are playing on diffrent computers we all feel that it would be so cool if 3-4 campaign would exist.

I dont mind if the game would have taken ages to play it would be fine for me.
and theres alot of diffrent solutions to go with if they would ever implement it in the future.

For example,

Co-op Play, Think about it as a 2x Two headed giants.

Picking Phase:

Player one picks Empire
Player two are forced to play any Bretonia,Empire or Dwarf faction. Lets say he pick (Dwarfs)

Player 3 picks Vampire Counts
Player 4 are forced to pick the Other Vampire faction.

Playing Phase:

Player 1 start.
Player 3 plays next.
Player 2 after that.
Player 4 plays last.

Combat Phase:

Now anytime say Empire attacks a settlement, Player 2 (Dwarf) can select "Observe"
And Player 3 and Player 4 can at anytime select "Play as enemy"

Player 1 can give units to his friend player 2.
Player 3 (If selected play as enemy) will get all units the enemy control and have the option to give away units to player 4.

This example is for 4 player campaign like a Coop mode that could work.
--------------------------------------------------------------------

Another long game term example is the following:

Head-Head-Head-Head.

Playing Phase:

Player 1 select Empire. (And plays first)
Player 2 select Dwarf
Player 3 select Vampire Counts
Player 4 select Orcs (Plays last)

Empire start his turn by attacking a nerby settlement.
and decides to play that battle.

None of the other player can interact with the battle, thier vision will remain outside of the battle so they can only look at thier displayed vision of territory and controled settlements.
This way they can never know what the enemy players are doing.

Only if a player attacks another player they will get into combat.

Now this gamemode would take forever, And you cannot interact if its not your turn or you get attacked or getting any diplomatic matters.

But some people like when its takes ages, i would have found this alot more funny.
Its just abit sad when you have 4 friends over and the game limit you to only play battles together or play with just one more player.
Theres alot of ways, this is just two.

So what do you guys think?
What would you guys enyoy 2-4 player campaign? do anyone have any other suggestion of how it could work.
Thanks and sorry for grammar and spelling problems.
hope you enjoyed the idea.

Alternatively, why not have everybody make their move/attack/recruitment/diplomacy/whatever orders simultaniously and have the army/agent actions play out at the same time once everybody has pressed "end turn"?

You'd only need to wait for other peoples battles to play out.
And as you suggested, these could be made observable by other players not involved.

A slight revision of the movement and interception system for armies and agents would be needed, but other games have done it and it works.

Example:

In Sword of The Stars, a 4X strategy game, it works like so:

1. You order your fleet (army) to attack an enemy, unit stays in place until end turn.
2. Hit "End Turn", the enemy moves, as does your unit.
3. The game autocalcs the path the enemy takes and if your unit has enough movementrange to intercept.

If you are in range -> Battle occurs as normal.

Would also possibly solve the problem of the AI running away so much.

Never understood why TW games never experimented with this: Works brilliantly and you spend minimal time waiting on other players, regardless of how many there are.

I was going to say something similar. This is basically how CIV5 handles multiplayer and it works very well. As long as the players aren't at war with eachother, they all take their turns at the same time and when they all end their turn it goes to the CPU. I kinda hoped this is how it was going to work even with 2 players.

Honestly I love your idea. I'd also like to have a larger campaign where every faction can be played by a player. I mean that'd be great too in my book. Every player would be thinking real hard on what to do. And the fights....Oh maaaan.

indeed, This game have so much potential for multiplayer, Heroes 7 for example made simultation turns possible, of course it was buggy to begin exprimenting with, But it works fine now.
Anything that allow us to play atleast 4 player on the campaign together should be in the game,
They could even make it a dlc i would buy it!

Id like a 3rd spot for co-op campaign. Sucks having odd number of friends to play with :P

It's about time they make the campaign playable for atleast 3-4 players totally in with your idea!
