How do you stop the Wood Elves?
My friend and I have done 3 co-op campaigns. Once as Beastmen/chaos, another was orks, and another was vampires/empire and in all 3 games the Wood Elves show up out of nowhere mid game and start crushing everything.

They have 3-5 heroes filled with dragons and other units and seem to replenish very quickly. What is the strategy for stopping this from occuring? In our opinion, they are more difficult to deal with than the Chaos invasion. Anyway, since it's happened 3 times in a row I'm asking for some help. These guys are a menace!

They only have 4 cities that mean anything. Destroy their Tree in the center. Destroy those 4 cities. If you are playing with others then have one of your friends distract or lead their armies away from their cities. Come well heeled as their garrisons may give you problems. RAZE Them.

I really never bothered with them (playing Dwarves) we were rarely at odds, but a few times they took dwarven lands from minor clans and goblins that I wanted. By the time we could come into conflict I was usually too powerful and didn't see the need to start anything.

They'll be nerfed for patch 1.6 due in 5 days.

Chaos and Beastment feel very weak in the campaign right now.

The Wood Elven AI is out of control, I attacked one Elven settlement with my Chaos armys and they chased me all over the map from Norsica to the southern bad lands.

Will Bretonnia be a counter to the Elvens or the next AI super power in the game?
If Bretonnia and Elven AI ever allows then to confederate, campaigns will short and not be much fun!

There's a mod that makes wood elves Defensive in personality so they don't try to conquer the whole map
Have never had a problem with wood elves, probably because I focus on killing them ASAP because of how much I hate the filthy ♥♥♥♥♥ and their precious little forest.

On a personal note, judicious use of guns, artillery, and heavy cavalry/infantry works best against the Wood Elves and if you time your attacks right (assuming you can tolerate their existence until the Chaos invasion starts, that is a good time), you can burn Athel Loren to the ground before any of their armies can respond.

All day this. Finishing my green skin campaign means ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ their stupid hippy tree towns so hard they never forget it. At 27-36k per sacking it's going to take one hell of a peace treaty before I'll sign.

They don't seem to mind getting Avatar'd while they encircled my minor settlements. But you can use sieges to draw them out.

The game keeps babbling about chaos ending the world but I'm always preparing for a wood elf invasion in my playthroughs no matter what faction I pick. Can't even stop them by manual battle because they stack 5+ full armies and they don't give up until they see you quit the campaign

They will be considerably nerfed in their behaviour according to the patch notes. They seem to overhaul quite a bit in the patch including magic balance, the "crap"-units such as Black Coach, Wolf Chariots etc.

Lets hope for the best.

There's a mini-mod in the Steam Workshop that changes the Wood elves' AI personality to defensive so they don't conquer lots of territory

how to beat wood elves... chariots, heavy cavalry, and high charge monsters. Many of their units are anti large but the point of those units is to disrupt their lines and break through to their archers. With some flyers to counter eagles or dragon and maybe ranged since most of their units are unarmored and unshielded. Don't bother with armored units and go for units with frenzy or anti infantry-infantry
