Beastmen Malagor start: Build up Malagor, get the brayherd quickly and then rush out of the badlands?
As the title says. Malagor's start position is about as far away as one can get from the main victory objectives. Test run didn't go very well since I was still in the badlands at turn 40 and had only just wiped out the Top Knotz with every other known faction now at war with me.

I've played and finished Warriors of Chaos, but Beastmen don't play the same way because of their brayherd mechanic. Starting with two hordes also complicates matters economically. So should I do what I said in the title or is it possible to play a long game and steathily take out Greenskin settlements without incurring the full might of a Greenskin Waagh?

Currently using Malagor too,
I moved the 2nd army units to the Beastmen legendary lord, and place the 2nd Beastmen general in hidden encampent stance (in the south south badlands).
Then with Malagor i went straight up to the Empire ( for the quest) harassing both Dwarves and Orcs.
In the meantime, the 2nd Generally is slowly slowly gaining population.

I just played one on Very Hard, and at around turn 40 Iam about to attack Top Knots last settlement with the brayherd i just, got but man they just got a waagh, and have way better + more troops than I. So its win or lose the campaign right here it seems.

As it turns out, I went north quickly and only picked off settlements which I could beat with minimal losses. Concentrated all building investment on Malagor with the second lord getting camp upgrades and the buildings for minotaurs and shamans.

I've witnessed first hand the southward march of the dwarf death stacks. Fortunately I've stalled their complete domination of the badlands by razing karaz-a-karaz via autoresolve with both my armies and a brayherd. Don't want to go to mount gunbad despite its huge contribution to the dwarf treasury but if I can sneak past the strong dwarf stacks I should be able to strike the soft underbelly of his unwalled settlements.

If the chaos invasion is any indication I won't have much time to mess around in the badlands before Archaon and friends destroy everything for me.

About to finish the game on very hard with long campaign victory, just trying to finish off Malagor's quest battles before I go bankrupt.

Don't like playing as a horde faction because it's actually stressful worrying where the next payday to keep the whole enterprise is going to come from. One thing the Beastmen have going for them is the AI is completely helpless at stopping Archaon and friends from destroying the entire map. It's actually quite funny seeing the Wood Elves at 14-16 settlements and no. 1 strength go straight back down to zero because the chaos warriors have utterly crushed their big armies allowing the Redhorn tribe to enter Athel Loren unmolested and free to wreck the unit-producing settlements at leisure.
