Are there any Warhammer PC games like the tabletop?
I've always wanted to get into tabletop wargames, but the entry barriers into said games are impossibly high. After buying armies, glue, paint, rulebooks, terrains, and everything else, you're also supposed to find someone who's pretty much done the same. Yeah, my local game store gets a group of tabletop wargamers, but I don't exactly have all the free time to make it to the tournaments and such. Not only that, but the rulebooks to said games are long, usually requiring a ton of rules searching, as well as crosschecking with an army codex or whatever. Yeah, I love the depth, but I'm more of a hands-on person. I just want to know if there's a PC game that emulates Warhammer tabletop? It'd be much easier to learn the rules with an actual game explaining them to me as I go along. Also, money concerns, as Games Workshop wants people to pay out the ass for miniatures (even though current tech makes it cheaper to print). I'm also not a big fan of assembling/painting, even though I know a ton of people love that part of the hobby. I suppose I could just go to the local game shop and have them demo Warhammer to me, but actually being able to buy/play a game whenever I want, then decide if I want to take that to tabletop form would be ideal. Sorry if it sounds like I'm whining, but I've just been wanting to play a game of Warhammer without all of the ridiculous amounts of time and money just to start playing.

Nothing comes to mind right now. There's a Warmachine videogame that emulates tabletop, look it up if you want. Warmachine is a pretty good tabletop game - the videogame? Well... not so much. Still, it's there.

Regarding Warhammer, though? Only RTS games once in a while (Mark of Chaos, for example) and some 40k variations (Space Hulk). But nothing emulating the standard fantasy tabletop game so far.

I've played the RTS games, and they're pretty good. It's just a shame that companies won't make digital versions of their tabletop games more often. I know that Games Workshop would probably see it as cutting into their profits and would just pad it with unneccesary DLC...but still.

Blood Bowl played in classic mode is exactly like the tabletop blood bowl.

You also have Mordheim.

I'll check those out. Thanks!

I liked Mark of Chaos a lot, but i played it as soon as it was available.

Maybe you will find it a bit dated.

I guess today your best WAR game is a mod for MedII Kingdoms: Call of Warhammer, at least Lore and immersion are there, you will find lots of youtube videos also.

Blood Bowl 2 is probably the closest you´re going to get, you build your own team with players, perks and flaws, and if a player breaks an elbow in game then the damage might stick and affect his performance in later matches. Pretty neat. But it´s not what you´re looking for.

If you ask around your typical Warhammer store, there´s usually someone there who knows someone who can be hired to paint for cash. The prices, quality and reliability of such a deal is of course all unknowns.

Basicly, it´s an expensive hobbie. They like it that way and they wanna keep it that way. :-(

Dark Omen! sure it's from 1993 or something, but it's still (so far) the best Warhammer licenced game there has ever been. So say I!

Does mark of chaos still have the multiplayer servers they had some really good armies in there and decent customisation for the time as well being able to choose gods for the chaos, armour types and Skaven !!!! if it still had that side i'd be on it like a tramp on a slightly damp container or week old chips.
