I doubt this will happen. The current consoles are way to anemic.

I hope not , all those sacrifices for consoles are a bit annoying , besides they would have to redesign interface heavily and that would eventually impact rts style as well . New generation of graphic cards are coming during this year so i imagine they will push the engine significantly for the next total war game , which is most likely already in development.
With the way Total War is currently designed, and how the consoles are currently designed. Nope. Never.

To make Total War work on consoles I think it would have to be a new game designed from the ground up for consoles. A port probably wouldn't work too well, and trying to make a game for both Console and PC would involve making so many cuts and compromises to make it work on the Console that I'm not sure the PC game would really be a Total War game as such.

Of course that doesn't mean they couldn't make a Total War "brand" game designed for consoles in the future, much like we have Total War: Arena (RTS/MOBA) and Total War Battles: Kingdoms (Mobile.) Halo Wars 2, which they are already making for XBox One is also an RTS so perhaps some of what they learn making that could be applied to a future Console Total War.

But for now I'd rather keep Total War as a PC game, as I think it's the best fit and it's what I enjoy playing.

All the Best,

Welsh Dragon.

Aside from others points of view I would like to add, have you ever tried playing a stratagie game using a controller? Its riddiculusly more complicated. If you want to try, try LotR: Battle for Middle Earth 2. very old but might find a copy (actually i wonder why the two Battle for middle Earth games arnt on steam. Probably licencing). You'l find urself wishing for the easy use for a mouse and keyboard in no time.

Please no, they have already dumbed down enough of the mechanics without going all the way to "click kill win". Nothing personal against console players, but please don't kill another one of the good PC franchises by making it a menu and scroll based UI. And if I ever see QTE's where I have to mash different coloured buttons following screen prompts in a TW game, well.....lets just say that I will never consider buying another one ever again.
Graphics and controls for toasters are not fitting this game.
Its the same reason why XCOM2 will not come to the casual toasters.

If you want to play serious strategy games you have to get a decent PC.

Really even if they would ever decide it to port games like this you will have to play with 15-20 fps, max 720p, gamecube graphics and less features because your hardware cannot handle it.

Hope not. The amount of issues the games would have no thanks...

I think at one point they (Sega) planned TW for tablets to take advantage of the huge mobile market. Hence why Rome 2 got such a bollocking as a game (excluding performance issues).

Why are you insulting toasters for, my toaster does 4 slices of bread, either frozen or fresh. I would live to see an xbox or ps4 that is that high tech.

I play on both PC and Xbox One and a TW game just wouldn't work with a Controller. Plus the sacrafices they'd have to make for it, it just doesn't make sense to.

Actually, attila works very well with my steam controller, but then again the steam controller is specificly designed to run these types of games.
