Global recruitment, why the extra cost?
I see the upkeep is the same but why twice the recruitment cost?

This makes sense if you think about it. With Global recruitment, you are potentially recruiting units that can only be made several provinces away. The extra cost is affiliated with recruiting the units and then transporting them to your location. This is also why the global recruitment takes longer.

Logistically to prevent you only ever needing one province to have the necessary buildings for units, also it costs more due to the fact that those troops are being transported all the way from the province that has the buildings so you are paying for their upkeep while they are in transit.

Sounds like that their getting ripped off by the transport at twice the cost but it does make sense that it costs extra. Thanks for the explanation.

It's not much. Otherwise it would make no sense to build more than one et of recruiting building in the whole faction. You have to pay extra for the ability to recruit troops from the other end of the world..

Didn't stop me. I have all my recruiting related buildings in my home province, and build no military buildings besides defenses everywhere else. All other provinces are pure financial districts.

Same here expect I kept one building that had pre-built barracks when I united the dwarfs just as Choas attacked so I needed to churn out as many men as possible in a short time. Now they're dead, I should probably convert them but I have loads of money now it's turn 152.

That's suboptimal; 3 of the provinces surrounding Karaz-a-Karak are better for recruitment. Death Pass is where you should be getting your infantry, Mt. Gunbad is where you should be getting your artillery, and Barak Varr is where you should be recruiting your ranged units, because all of those have building options which give bonuses to rank at recruitment.
Also Slayers at Karak Kadrin, but that's just cause of the Great Slayer Shrine.

I'm playing the Counts, and besides, optimal to me is least-time consuming. Don't need an extra rank or two to crush the AI anyways.

Oh, yeah, then the only thing to consider is building your Forest units in Western Sylvania instead because of the +3 rank bonus.
