As someone who knows NOTHING about the Warhammer lore. Do you guys think this title is a good start?
Hello! Will this title give me a decent idea and a good start with the warhammer lore? or will it overwhelm me with factions i know nothing about? Does the campaign do good on explaining the lore and story of each faction and their history?

I never really got into warhammer ( too busy playing other games and playing on consoles). but i was a big fan of the warcraft lore and warcraft 3 back in the day and it seems like warhammer and warcraft are very similar. Do you think ill also like warhammer? ( if so, do you recommend any games that i should start with to introduce me to warhammer? )

lastly, what are the future dlc factions? Where can i get the game with a season pass ( doesnt seem to be listed on steam) ?

If you actually want to learn the lore, then this game is pretty terrible (there are a lot of mentions to it, but absolutely no explanations and many of the mechanics run contrary to it).

If you want to get somewhat acquainted with the setting before you learn the lore then I recommend it.

Warhammer lore and Warcraft lore are EXTREMELY different, with their only similarity being the presence of most of the classical fantasy races.

Nobody has any idea what the DLCs will actually contain, although we did get a list of the general content that will be released for free. There is no season pass.

If you're actually interested in learning the lore however I'm always happy to answer any questions you may have on the subject (while my knowledge is far from perfect or complete, it's extensive enough that I should be able to at least give you a ballpark explanation [unless it involves Elves, who I know the least about]).

I could recommend some youtube channels. Arch Warhammer has a good series about the Warhammer Fantasy Lore for example.
Other than that there are the books from the Black Library. The Gotrek and Felix books are propably the most popular here.
In general Warhammer is a Tabletop game from Games Workshop. So there are also the army books GW sells. Those are rather expensive though and more for people who collect the miniatures.

As a warning i have to add though, that GW bascially killed off Warhammer Fantasy not long ago and replaced it with Age of Sigmar (which sux). Very sad but true.

The lore is pretty simple to grasp in the basics, but is incredibly deep as well.

Basically an ancient race of aliens used magic to travel through space and time. They found the Warhammer world and created most of the life on it. They built warp gates on the poles of the planet to travel the stars.

For an unknown reason the warp gates collapsed and tore holes into the dimension of Chaos from which magic originates.

Chaos has been trying to take over the planet ever since.

This game takes place during the End Times when canonically Chaos finally wins and destroys the planet. You can change history in this though and beat Chaos.

The game DOES NOT take place during the End Times. If there's a mainstream allegory to the setting then it's Storm of Chaos.

If it were the End Times then Legendary Lords would be able to die

I have heard that it did take place in the end times.

Hmm.

Haven't gotten far into any campaigns though.

if it were the End Times, Chaos would be nigh unstoppable in spread
Nagash would be dancing around
Skavens would go around exploding things
and Ulthruan, (Elvish) kingdom would be in shambles
not to mention Vlad Von Carstein kicking Mannfred's ass for being a complete ♥♥♥♥ throughout his entire unlife.

Alright so I was misinformed.

Like I said I haven't played enough of the game to truly grasp it's setting.

Correct me if i am wrong but this title is set on warhammer medieval times or early era right? ive no clue about the warhammer timelines.

What game or site / warhammer wiki site or youtube channel do you guys recommend where i can learn about the warhammer in this current title or era? excluding the 40k stuff or other eras.

Ill ask you guys about lore stuff in the game if i cant find it on google :D ( currently downloading the game so no questions yet! )

Go read the wikia like I did, it's actually quite interesting but there are some confusing things because there is so much.

It definitely seems to take place near the End of the World on the timeline.

1d4 c h a n makes pretty good summaries but it's not really that good if you want to get into the lore. You want something with more fluff and in depth.
