Dark Omen or Total War like?
It's kinda too expensive at the moment for a game with so many critics. I would like to understand what is it like.
Dear owners, what do you say? Is it like a old-good Dark Omen? In this case it is Ok total war fans will go angry. Or is it just like regular Total War but poor-made?

Why not watch gameplay of it? That would give you the best feel of it in general. Might be the best way to experience it.

Dark Omen was more immersive and satisfying imo, although that may be due to rose-tinted glasses.

This is exactly what I would like to know. If there is some immersion potential close to Dark Omen than it is Ok to accept some bugs or gameplay simplifications/issues.

Dark Omen was much more a story-line. This has a lot more influence from heroes and might and magic. Taking in towns and collecting taxes. It's hard to say if you will also like this. I do personally. I really love all the references to warhammer. I always liked the map in Dark Omen and how you would travel to different places. There is more freedom in this game but Dark Omen just had a strong story because it wasn't sandbox.

Dark Omen came instantly to mind when I started the game. Except I now play as Carstein!

Dark Omen was amazing. I hope this game is near as good.

different. from both. cant be rome and conwuer the known world.. they tend to stick to lore in warhammer... like staying away from provinces and such.

Every battle was handcrafted in dark omen, the difficulty was steep but not cheap. In Dark omen you only have battles, no real economy to speak of, you have to manage your troups and upgrades though.

In Warhammer Total war you have a campaign map with cities to conquer, you can manage your income, recruit units for your armies, you fight battles on the campaign map or lay siege to enemy cities, research technology. But the tech tree is very boring and bland. You have heroes, that can gain experience, but the hero skill tree is not very impact full and boring. Mostly you get like small 3% upgrades for attack or defense. That is not very exciting and boring game design. The battles look much better in TWWH, but that is to be expected. The AI gets artificial advantages in higher difficulties and spawns armies out of thin air. I look at you chaos. Not fun at least for me. You have only 5 factions included chaos, Imperium, Dwarfes, Orks and Vampire Counts. Chaos is free the first week, after that you have to buy it. Get ready for many more 1 faction or even worthless Legendary lords WTF DLCs to come. This is Creative Assembly and Sega after all. They like to milk their franchises to death. Ah and the game does not work for many people, just look at the reviews.

Embrace yourself the fanboi horde is coming.

Have a nice day

No in TWWH you can only conquer regions, dwarfs can conquer ork cities, humans can conquer vampire cities and vice versa, you can not conquer the world in the vanilla version only halve of it. The rest will be destroyed.

Have a nice day

I am running a Chaos game as the Dragon looking guy as leader, now that faction has a real DO feel because you dont own stuff, you just move around and bash things, more or less like the missions you had in DO.
And yeah the Vampires are pretty damn cool too. Have a saved game of them as well.

Yeah, never did complete it. On the later battles with lots of units it kind of looked like a big old trifle...

At the veryfirst Reminded me really much of Dark Omen which was the best Warhammer on PC for me. The Scale is much larger though and the Graphics are awesome, multiplayer is absolute blast.
Campaing I have only played 3hr yet seems good though. Had problem with multiplayer yesterday morning was fixed. Now the only problem for me and other I think is the occasional crash of the lobby when entering match. No other crashes.

I even completed it but yes it was very hard and had much to do with trial and error during the initial army placement.
