No battle maps for villages?
I noticed (playing as Empire) that every time I conquer another human settlement, the battlefield map is just some generic map without an actual town in it. No buildings, just a generic wilderness map as it would be in normal battles.

So far I've only besieged the two smaller settlement types (village/hamlet), so perhaps that's the reason - still, it feels like a bug or oversight since smaller settlements have been shown during battles in earlier Total War games.

Anyone else that's a bit bothered by this?

Ok, so at least it's not just me. I was hoping we would be able to use smaller stuctures to our advantage and create chokepoints even if there are no huge city walls and siege engines.

This is something they should def patch...

Build walls in small settlements in the defence chain and you will have settlement battles there

Upgrade village defenses, it gets walls. The village battles in R2 and Attila were pretty stupid, it was too easy to fend off massive armies simply because the AI is... well, the AI. I've held off a full stack with just a tiny ERE garrison, several time by just planting them around a tower in their "lol I can't die" formation and let the tower kill them off while you watch TV.

lol theres no real chance with your garrison when enemie's lord can bulldoze through your entire defence XD but yeah, settlement defence is a must.

Other than it being a must defense wise. The whole point why I bought the Beastmen DLC is cause I wanted to raid human villages, but nope lol.
