What is the reason for that?
They can give at least an option to play with more than 2 if people want to.
It's because of the engine, theres been 2 player campaign on the TW games for a while. They just don't think adding the option to play with more players justify the cost since they don't believe it will help them sell more copies.
Easy to understand. Don't listen those who tell you it's because of the time per turn, this is BS. They know many players would play more than 2 players campaign. But they also know those who would play already buy the game and so it would cost more for no real gain. It's buisness reasoning. Not about time per turn lol.
Game devs will tell you, there are 1000 things they wanted to implement, but could only prioritise 100. Time and money.
But yeah you took the opportunity to act like a douche bag and throw jabs to anyone who just have the horrific and irrational behavior to post on a forum...
Well done sir, your good at it!
What are player 3 and 4 supposed to do if one player is fighting the a.i. and chooses not to automate it?
With 2 player mode, the second player controls the a.i. army so there is always something to do while you wait your turn and it also makes a.i. factions more of a challenge if your opponent is acting as their general when they fight you.
You can always spectate if you want, so it's not like your staring at the campaign map for too long. I know this is not convenient, i would never play like this on a multiplayer random game. But with rl friends it would be great.
But yeah like i said before it's not because it would take too much time to play a turn, it's because it would cost money to reprogram the game for more than 2 players. The decision was taken years back and they have to stick with it until they change the engine or pay the money to change it.
They probablly think that doing it won't help to sell more copy enough to justify the cost, so they just don't do it...
Most Total War multiplayer gamers have not tried the campaign mode, and only stick to battles, but if you have someone reliable to play against and are happy to go for the long haul, its a very unique and interesting challenge. It makes the battles more interesting as there is context to the battles.
Drawing upon your logic, MP campaigners can never be people you don't come to know in real life.
