You go attack the city with siege wait one turn than the waagh army fill follow you there so in the next turn you can attack with the support of the waagh army. They usually got destroyed by most of the "AI stacks" if you let them attack alone by your orders.
(Probably your waagh army got destroyed , waagh army won't disband if there is no target given you might misread the message)
Be safe that your main army has enough "power" to "maintain" it Waaagh-Army, so it could happen that if you loose a battle and your "power-level" is under 75 (or 80 ? - depends on difficulty level I guess) it will be deleted.
So, if you want to have a Whaaagh-Army a very long time, the Main-Army has to be active
and look out for some action. If you are sieging a town, the Whaaagh will enter the battle. Even if you tell the Whaaaagh to siege a town it could happen that the Whaaagh is faster than you and then you aren't able to siege and you have to wait until the Whaaagh-Army decides to battle.
Very tricky sometimes, but it makes always fun :)
