The opposite side of this is that they apparently didn't give the AI the memo that chaos armies kill eachother from attrition because, during my first chaos invasion, I had all three chaos generals march through the land stacked up like the AI likes to do and they decimated themselves through attrition before I could get an army to them making for a very quick and easy resolution to the chaos problem.
Well, yes. You're supposed to get most of your income from sacking settlements. Chaos is designed to run on a deficit.
Chaos factions seems to be thought out a bit poorly, both AI and Faction to play with. All in all i find the chaos on very hard at least, not that much fun to play.
If there's nothing left to sack, you've razed everything and have won the game. No point rolling around an empty landscape with four armies, is there?
You did pose a question, though, and I attempted to answer it. Can't talk about much more than the reflected sound of underground spirits* here, because if and how you build up a second stack depends entirely on where you are in the campaign.
*If you don't know what that is, I suggest Google and some time set aside, because googling it will lead you to some good books.
Might get a Third to finish Bretonnia and Estalia off while the other two raze the south.
Just need to supply the second army with good troops from the parent army in a safe location.
The income from sacking does outweigh the cost of maintaining two armies: I currently have 200k favor and only -2k income each turn.
So, yeah, there is no real problem running two armies as long as there is a healthy bank balance to act as a buffer. The two armies can maintain contact at a distance without causing each other attrition and join forces for a turn in the event of facing multiple enemy stacks.
Still, I'm finding Chaos to be incredibly overpowered in my playthrough so far.
Just absolutely smashed Karl Franz's Empire army with one stack.
