What's the point in having a second Chaos army?
One army is easy enough to handle and mine can defeat three full enemy stacks.

When i recruited a second Lord, both armies suffered attrition, so I moved my main army out of the attrition area and the new Lord was attacked and killed :(
I tried recruiting a second Lord again and endured the attrition while giving him some troops, then moved the second Lord away from the main army; again he was attacked and wiped out.

Also, a second army, especially a full stack, means a lot of negative income; and if it's not a full stack it must be constantly babied.

So, what exactly is the point of having a second Lord if the two armies cannot support each other without both suffering attrition when my main army can handle multiple enemy armies anyway?

I had a similar experience on my chaos playthrough, ended up being a lot of micromanaging and hassle just to get my 2nd army self sufficient enough not to be instantly killed by a random nord general.

The opposite side of this is that they apparently didn't give the AI the memo that chaos armies kill eachother from attrition because, during my first chaos invasion, I had all three chaos generals march through the land stacked up like the AI likes to do and they decimated themselves through attrition before I could get an army to them making for a very quick and easy resolution to the chaos problem.

Well, yes. You're supposed to get most of your income from sacking settlements. Chaos is designed to run on a deficit.

I am building up my fourth chaos army now, it is indeed a pain in the ass to do, the attrition and the general lack of getting health back is so annoying.. Back in Atilla you could make some money out of buildings, but here it is all about sacking, but what when I dont have anything left? I would have to disband pretty much all of them, including heroes.

Chaos factions seems to be thought out a bit poorly, both AI and Faction to play with. All in all i find the chaos on very hard at least, not that much fun to play.

On normal you don't need it, but as difficulty goes up, you will need it. As your army can beat 3 full enemy stacks, you will have to deal with 6 or 9 later on and so on. And yes if you do not run on negative income as chaos you play it wrong.

If there's nothing left to sack, you've razed everything and have won the game. No point rolling around an empty landscape with four armies, is there?

Depends totally on how the map is getting along, but that wasn't the point I was trying to make.....

You did pose a question, though, and I attempted to answer it. Can't talk about much more than the reflected sound of underground spirits* here, because if and how you build up a second stack depends entirely on where you are in the campaign.

*If you don't know what that is, I suggest Google and some time set aside, because googling it will lead you to some good books.

I built a second army just to help speed things up, had my main razing everthing from Sylvania to Bretonnia and had the second start burning the Orcs & Dwarfs out of the mountains.

Might get a Third to finish Bretonnia and Estalia off while the other two raze the south.

I made a second army in my current playthough due to what happened after six or seven Varg armies took down my army in my last playthrough despite having over 150 grand at that point. I intend to have it sit tight and hidden in a corner of the wastes, raise new armies, and recruit good troops for them if the need arises.

Well, I did make a second army annd now have both armies coordinating, after a fashion , rolling along sacking the villages up north.

Just need to supply the second army with good troops from the parent army in a safe location.

The income from sacking does outweigh the cost of maintaining two armies: I currently have 200k favor and only -2k income each turn.

So, yeah, there is no real problem running two armies as long as there is a healthy bank balance to act as a buffer. The two armies can maintain contact at a distance without causing each other attrition and join forces for a turn in the event of facing multiple enemy stacks.

Still, I'm finding Chaos to be incredibly overpowered in my playthrough so far.
Just absolutely smashed Karl Franz's Empire army with one stack.
