When you realize the Warhammer map is Earth...

I looked up a map of the warhammer world and nearly ♥♥♥♥ my pants. Its pretty much exactly like the earth map just squished. The map for this game is only the europe part of the map, or "old world". Most of the factions are starting to make sense now. My mind is literally blown to pieces. Oh and anyone now a good place to look into warhammer lore?

Yep, pretty much.

Empire = HRE
Brittonia = England/French
Chaos Tribes = Norway, scandinavia, Sweden, kinda viking like
Orcs = Arficans
Dwarfs, hard to pin point, but would say Romans as hey closest to the Alps and prefer to fight defensive.
Elfs, again hard, they on a island that does not really exist, but would say North American Native as they are aligned to nature allot.

Back when WHFB first came out, there were a lot more "real world" army lists. Not very fleshed out, but you had everything from Samurai to Conquestadors.

Orks are not Africans, there are actual Africans in the lore.

Interesting thing is that the lore hints that Earth exsisted before the warhammer fantasy planet was molded by the Old Ones.

Orcs would probably be Ottomans, not 'Africans' since they both fill the same 'tide of doom sweeping in from the southeast' niche.

And Brettonia is French feudal culture with random bits of English mythos thrown in. The actual England in the WFB world is Albion, which you see in game in the form of that random dude showing up over and over and offering 3k gold for some corruption.

Dwarfs would be Constantinople if the Orcs are the Ottomans, and it fits with the 'decline of the old world' theme they've got going.

Personally i think that the combinations can be seen making attention to the names of the army lords.
So i find many corrispondences between the empire and the sacred roman empire, so the medieval german people, tilea is Italy, bretonnia is a mix of France and England.
The northern men of the game are the northern men of the Euorope. But for what concern the other factions i don't think there are so many corrispondence with the medieval countries :/

On WHFB lore, Estelia is Spain and Araby is um North African/Arab. Cathay is China, Huns is Huns, Nippon is Japan.
