Pretty much this. I don't know of a mod that makes Gelt hit with anything more than the force of a snowball, so we might be out of luck. Shame since he's pretty cool.
They don't feel the need to fix anything, the game is still top seller on steam, so they just celebrate until the money flow stop.
Then we may get some fix and new contents.
I've seen the lore of metal magic bombardment spell (forgot it's name) cast twice on the same unit getting a staggering zero kills.
Hoping patches will fix this.
That ability would be far better if it were simply: "Causes foe in targeted area to roll on the floor with laughter."
Without these mods, magic is just worthless. I remember casting burning head like 4 times in one battle and the bright wizard only got around 8-10 kills...
The best part about gelt is that it can be really easy to get franz for your second lord if you play your cards right. Which leaves you with two legendary lords and so much less risk of them dying.
Gelt is one of the weaker legendary lords mainly because of his low armor. Because of which he will lose duels with other lords (100% definitely against orcs).
Additionally his first spell appears to be bugged. Which means winning the first battles are very hard. You've got to make sure he melees without just plain dying. Which means he always has to flank/not be engaged by enemies. Make sure your lines meet before sending him in. After that he will wreck nearly as hard as franz. Same thing works for necromancer lords.
Anyway since your first spell doesn't work you're going to want to rush to more spells. Until you're level 3 things are tough. But after that you can pick up some really good buffs. I can't check exactly what they do but one is +leadership and + AP damage and that is really good. And the other one is I think a -armor debuff and is also very good
Your primary play pattern is going to be using your special ability to give you -100% miscast chance and then overcharge your buffs on a proper area to give you the edge to win. Then melee to clean up.
After you have the first spells you can focus on the leadership tree to strengthen your line. And/get a mount to protect yourself.
The hard part is getting to 3. Then you can start to be effective. Just remember to double click to overcharge spells
