Can you wipe Chaos out of the map?

I am pretty new to total war warhammer, and the genera in general. i did play shogun for quite a bit though so i am not a noob to how to play the game. I really love warhammer and the total war games that have come out so far. But i am playing as the vampire counts and i was just wonderingif you can wipe chaos off the map so i can continue with other things. I just wrecked 2 of their armys but took a huge amount of losses myself. Can i just wipe them off the map and continue trying to kill other factions?

Yes, after Archaeon shows up, if you defeat him and all his pals at the same time the chaos invasion ends.
