Well, a lot of them are.
Before the HH, the Ultramarines were the most numerous. Afterwards, they were massively the most numerous.
9 loyalist legions....
The Iron Hands, Raven Guard and Salamanders were a shattered mess.
The Space Wolves produced the Wolf Brothers
The Dark Angels had several succession chapters, maybe 5 or 6?
Ditto the Blood Angels....
White Scars and Imperial Fists, I dunno, probably not more than a dozen between them.
Be generous, call it 30 chapters there.
The Ultramarines budded off a further 20 chapters, many of which were sufficiently successful and powerful to bud of more.
While the Ultramarines and their successors are not ALL the Space Marines, they are a massive proportion of them. Maybe 70 to 80%? It's a fair probablility that if a chapter is not obviously a successor of the others, then they're descended from the Ultramarines.
Note also that there are quite a few chapters (Soul Drinkers, Blood Ravens, and so on) where no-one, including themselves, has any clue about where they're from. See also Red Corsairs and the Legion of the Damned for further edge cases.
Also, I believe that Ultramarines & its succesor chapters, make up (Bit more than half) 60%, not 70 to 80. (5th Edition, pg 8)
But then again, there's chapters where the actual amount of Space marines within them, are unlcear.
No one answered my question regarding this.
There's not really any major difference, apart from achieving a much higher score of kills in 40k than in fantasy.
Rumored that he is currently back in the warp after Dante bisected him.
Anyone else think one of them looks a little too slaaneshi?

I thought that was Fulgrim at first.
