Spores which would grow underground into a plant-like womb that nourishes the Squig before it eventually emerges out of the ground.

greenskins are derived from spores.

Yeah... As said above, the Greenskins are basically a nomadic self-sufficient ecosystem.

The Greenskins is a hybrid of animal and fungal lifeforms and reproduce by means of spores being continuously released by the Greenskins' body. When these spores take root, the infant greenskin is formed underground and once fully matured, would dig its way to the surface under the dome of a shriveled mushroom cap.

This is the entire basis of the Greenskin ecosystem, producing first Squigs, then Snotlings who cultivate the Squigs and the fungus they feed on, then Goblins to build the Greenskin settlements, and finally the Orcs themselves. This means the Greenskins, wherever they go, will have an abundance of food, slaves and other resources, a moving ecosystem that supports them as they unleash their WAAAGH! across the known world.
even in warhammer 40k they are spawned from fungus spores, that's why once a planet is infected with greenskins, you'll never fully wipe them out as mictoscopic spores in the ground will start to grow in time.

No, its quite easy to do. Here are the four simple and easy steps.

  1. Obtain nukes/napalm in large quantities
  2. Go to affected planet
  3. Use earlier mentioned bombs to carpet the continent(s), and set them off
  4. Repeat step 3 multiple times to make sure that theres nothing left

And we're done!

Out of interest, does anyone have a solid reference for the "Orcs are fungus" thing? I mean, it makes sense, and it certainly applies to the 40k Orks, but I can't remember if GW ever came out and specified it also applies to their fantasy greenskins....

The army book and the skarsnik book readily come to mind.

Is that the 8th ed Greenskin book and the Skarsnik end-times novel? I gave up on GW when 8th Ed launched, which I why I might not have encountered this.

I believe it was actually in the earlier editions as well (its just a small reference and quite easily missed).
