Orc defense armies???
How to manage defense armies when playing as greenskins? Since you need to raid or fight to keep the fightiness up... raiding your own provinces sucks... :S

The Orcs don't play defensively very well, so there's no good way to do defense. However, once fightiness goes down, you can eat your army (essentially) to get it back up. I admit that this isn't ideal, but it can work.

I've played a bit of Orcs, and my sole defensive army which I used was just a group of goblins. It takes quite a bit for fightiness to go down enough to be the end of the world. You could always recruit a new army if you need to, as well, for defense.

Mainly though, you need to be on the offensive with Orcs. Defensive armies are not ideal, and should only really be used on a short-term basis (which I used mine for), while your main group(s) and Waaaghs clean up.

I cycle armies if I am worried about defending a settlement or settlements for a long period of time.

IMHO focusing on attacking and expansion is the best strategy for Greenskins. You may lose a settlement or two, but that is not a huge loss if you are expanding. Besides you can take those settlements back if needed.

You know there's a button so your leader can go slap your soldiers around, causing casualties but increasing fightiness, right? It activates once your army gets unruly and starts suffering attrition. Once you do it, your army should be good for another 10 or 15 turns (that is if you aren't running with fightiness penalties from events)

I either just use the knocking heads together option once fightyness on those heapo gobbo stacks hits the attrittion stage or raid my own (poorer) province to get a rebel stack to beat up.

If you have multiple provinces, keep 1 lord who you want to level in those region. Only give him a few gobbo-archers. (4 are enough)

Always build garrison buildings in most of your cities except capitals ofc.

Whenever a rebellion is close, place them near the city they will spawn. Wait until it grew enough to attack you, then defend with it and gain lots of gold.

Dont forget to get a few points into + to post battle loot.

Repeat and you get a super buffed up defensive lord who makes you tons of money.

How do you know which settlement the rebels will spawn in?
Garrisons assist quit a bit.

They only spawn in Capitals or a single province you control in a region so always make sure you control capitals do also build t1 walls in capitals where you can it helps a bunch also you need a serious amount of replenishment at all times if playing on higher difficulty, this does have a big draw back because you have limited slots, the best garrison units that complement a lord are wolf chariots(2/4) because the defences give a great all round mix of units but are missing quite a crucial unit, when you get attacked by dwarfs you going to need them, later swap them for boar chariot.
