And GW painted some in red too. http://whfb-de.lexicanum.com/mediawiki/images/7/74/Schwarzorks_m._Zweihandwaffen.gif
I'm well aware of the mod and I use it, but the problem is that CA basically threw lore out the window without a care in the world.
Games Workshop official paintjob:

For some odd reason, Orcs thinks that red things just seem to go faster. So thats why they paint anything red sometimes.
Therefore there motto is:
"Green iz best", but "red goes fasta"
No that's Orks in 40K, Orcs in Fantasy don't do that last I checked.
It's also not an odd reason, Orks have a sort of collective psychic field so what they believe becomes reality. They think red paint makes things go faster so they actually do go faster. They think their slapped together guns work so they do.
They paint things red or generate magic? I know they do the latter, more Orcs means more magic for the Shaman to use. I have never heard of Fantasy Orcs painting things red to go faster. They don't even have any vehicles to paint to make go faster.
Yes they pretty much are, good thing to or they would be actually dangerous to the galaxy at large. Unless it has some kind of catch, like figuring out what you believe becomes real makes it stop working that way.
The lore isn't exactly black and white when it comes to some of these things, especially not in this case. Their armour is also black metal along with red. As a game it also needs to function in a way that you can quickly identify your own troops so there has to be some room for colour schemes to change.
They in no way threw the lore out the window XD
Yeah, it's something that happens in the Fantasy as well as 40k. It definitely originated in 40k, but as it become more ubiquitous amongst the recognition value of GW Ork(c)s, it got absorbed by the Fantasy ones too, it just has less placement as there's not as many trukks or ships that make an appearance. I do remember seeing a Doom Diver unit on display at a Games Day that worked directly from that motif.
Especially since, y'know, GW has to approve everything. If the owners of the lore say it's okay, then by default it's not 'throwing lore out the window'.
